One member of a suspected armed robbery gang that operated and killed a security guard in a warehouse at Sango-Otta, Ogun State, has been nabbed.

The dare devil robbers were determined to operate on the warehouse at Ipamesan area of Sango but felt the guard would obstruct them, and first had to kill him to gain access into the warehouse.

While still busy looting the warehouse, a distress call was put across to Sango-Otta Police Divisional Headquarters, a call the DPO, CSP Godwin Idehai, quickly responded to, mobilized his patrol team and raced to the scene.

According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the armed robbers, who had earlier snatched two vehicles, fled the Ipamesan robbery scene towards Joju, with the operatives chasing them.

At a point, when the policemen almost caught up with them, the marauders opened fire on them, all in a bid to escape. A retaliatory superior firepower of the detectives forced the armed robbers to finally flee, abandoning the two vehicles, a Lexus Jeep and Toyota Matrix car.

While escaping, the PPRO said, the policemen still went after them and succeeded in the apprehension of one of them, identified as Henry Obe.

In Oyeyemi's words: "Due to the superior firepower of the policemen, they abandoned the two robbed vehicles, a Lexus RS 330, with registration number FKJ 691 FW, snatched from one Dosumu Kazeem, and a Toyota Matrix car, marked MUS 835 FW, snatched from one Ibrahim Lateef, and took to their heels. The team pursued them, and one of the robbers, later identified as Henry Obe, was arrested in the process.

"It was later discovered, that the hoodlums had shot a guard attached to a warehouse, owned by one Yinka Oduwale, before gaining access and looted the said warehouse. The guard was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead", the Police spokesman said.

The two vehicles, one long gun, 41 laptops, 2DVD players, 2 phones and 3 tablet gadgets, were said to have been recovered from the robbers.

"Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation. He also directed the crack detectives to go after the remaining members of the gang, with the view to bring them to justice within the shortest possible period", the statement added.

See as dem popo my guy face !!!

Real income has continued to decrease even as nominal income remains constant in the face of hyper inflation.

Our country is in an economic mess. It's mind boggling how we can get out of it. Little wonder the rampant increase in crime rate

If Nigerian police use beating to force confession out of you en, you would confess you started robbing from your mother's womb..

The way police handle criminals here and the way they do overseas is a clear example of how both governments treat their citizens.
