Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, says the state government is looking for investors that will develop its tertiary health facilities to a world class health institutions capable of providing quality healthcare services to the people.

The governor also invited investors to collaborate with the government on major infrastructural development projects such as road, railway, agro processing, energy digital economy and other social services under its public-private sector partnership arrangement.

Abiodun stated these at the Nigerian-British Chambers of Commerce (NBCC) Webinar with the theme, "Meet the Governor of Ogun State: Investment and Business Opportunities, also noted that the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, needed attention to bring it to standard and prevent brain drain.

According to the Governor, "we inherited an uncompleted 250-bed Hospital in Abeokuta. As part of our recognition that government is a continuum and anywhere the Commonwealth of Ogun State has been invested, we will not abandon.

"We are therefore looking for investors in order to help us develop it into standard hospital to stem the tide of medical tourism, conserve foreign exchange and provide quality Medicare for our citizens and those who may require the services for research and investigations".

Reiterating the vision of his administration which included; focused and qualitative governance, improving citizens’ confidence and trust in government through transparent and accountable leadership, the governor stated that several reforms on land, energy, judiciary, tax, finance and civil service, were deliberately put in place to ensure Ease of Doing Business in the state.

He said the creation of Public Private Partnership Office, Ogun Investment Agency, Business Advisory and the recently launched Civil Justice Transformation Strategy Document, were other steps taken to ensure seamless business operations in the State.

He further observed that with a landmass of 16,981 square kilometres, suitable for the cultivating of food and cash crops, the atate has a well diversified portfolio in key sectors including manufacturing, mining and trade which put together, jointly constituted 65 percentage of the state's Gross National Product value.

He said the present administration's efforts were geared towards improving productivity, mobility and connectivity through the provision of adequate road infrastructure, particularly in the rural areas.

Abiodun who stressed the importance of having motorable roads that link its neighbours, particularly, Lagos State, said the 14km Epe-Ijebu-Ode road, constructed by his administration, would soon by commissioned, while the construction of Atan-Lusada-Agbara road had since been flagged off, calling on investors to partner his government in building such key economic roads in the state.

The governor lauded the partnership with the British Government in setting up a Multimodal Mass Transport System for the State, adding that his administration was discussing with the Federal Government to create spurs around Lagos-Ibadan Standard guage way to service the intermittent clusters and housing estates springing up along the corridor.

While urging British investors and others to take advantage of the state's economic potentials, Abiodun maintained that investment opportunities existed in rice, cassava, spices and vegetables, cattle and dairy, poultry as well as in Agricultural International Market and Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone and in the manufacturing sector.

On housing, the governor said his administration was determined to provide 3,000 affordable housing units across the state in first instance before 2023.

"We have demonstrated this by building almost a thousand units to date in all the three senatorial district and we are looking for Private Sector Organisation to partners with us", he said.

He further disclosed that Ogun will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a legislation-backed Joint Commission with Lagos state, to ensure security, stability, cooperation and development of the two states.

Governor Abiodun also disclosed that the state will host an Investment Summit, themed 'OGUN #ISEYA21: Becoming Africa’s Model Industrial & Logistics Hub' between July 12th and July 13th, 2021.

He noted that the Summit is aimed at providing a platform for collaboration with potential domestic and foreign investors, attract new investors into the state and potentially sign Memorandum of Understanding and Joint Venture agreements with partners and investors.

Very Good Development.
One of the solutions we have recommended to a robust economy.

More way for our darling nation to move forward......

Move Nigeria MORE to Private Sector Driven Economy
a) Privatise ALL of Federal Govt PARASTATALS & reduce Federal Direct Funded AGENCIES to 68% of the present.
b) Privatise ALL of STATE Govt PARASTATALS & reduce State Direct Funded AGENCIES to 19% of the present.
c) Reduce current DIRECT LABOUR JOB participation
by 49%
d) Encourage more Working Hours until Nigeria economic stabilizes

DOA.
Ogun state though has the population for maximum profitability but what is lacking is infrastructure and enabling policies.
Governor Dapo should start a fully geared dedication to that effect and surely Investors will look his state's way.
No investor will want to engage without seeing a prospective profitability assurance!

In my opinion I think rather than try to model ogun state like Lagos they should create a blueprint of developmental growth that is suitable for their kind of commercial activities which is more indigenous.

We need young visionary leaders abeg.

The ones that they have, scattered along Lagos Ibadan and Lagos Abeokuta expressways what have they used the money to do? What have they used their IGR to do? No roads, no stable electricity in some regions, healthcare facilities - story. Ogun is the elder brother of Lagos, he also accommodates Nigerians as Lagos do, but the problem with the states is the problem Nigerians are faced with today, bad governance and leaderships without any blueprints on how to move the state forward. No governor comes into the state and follows the line of continuity, look at all the flyovers Amosun left incompleted in the state, most of them remain uncompleted till date. Or is the unity schools which have turned to the den of all kinds of rodents and forage facility for cattle rearers.

OGUN STATE WAKE UP, YOU CAN BE BETTER THAN LAGOS!

Most likely will convert to private ownership later. That's the hidden agenda.

Dear Dapo Abiodun,

Open a channel for the general public to invest. Explore crowdfunding option. Let the people ELECT board members and make sure the entire process is stripped of partisan politics.
Partisan politics kills development and If you continue to surround yourself with your goons from the APC...all we will do is sit and watch while praying for Gods direction for you to actualize your plans.
Ogun State is for us all... and we all yearn for a prosperous society

Thanks.

I don't think Gov A is looking to be a mini-Lagos... Rather he's trying to get infrastructure levels up.
I agree to what Ben said.. About completing previous unfinished projects by predecessors nd like you have written, get a blueprint after a SWOT analysis for mid and long term growth projections to help formulate a sustainable growth strategy.

It's after then a motto is created which investment - FDI, JV Crowdfunding from local and diaspora social communities and lastly Government - can help sustain.

The usual issues will be the legal and the Governance framework to allow for honesty, transparency and equity with a nonpartisanship overview.

Ogun state needs to digitalise its land registering and C of O processes. Their department of lands is a coven of thieves and the stink goes all the way to the top.

Ogun State has great economic prospects which when fully exploited will make the state second only to Lagos.

As at today, she is the
#1 Cement producer in Nigeria.
#1 Cassava producer in Africa.
#1 Producer of poultry products in Nigeria.
#1 In number of tertiary institutions.
#1 Most industrialized state in Nigeria.**

** Many of the companies with offices in Lagos have their factories in Ogun.

I really hope the current administration will further showcase these opportunities by continuing the annual Ogun State Investors' Forum.

OP I have sent you a dm. We may be able to work together for the good of our state.
