What's Symbolic About This Ritual? by akinmusi(m): 9:45am On May 24, 2021
Last night in a small community in Ilogbo, Ogun State, a friend's neighbour alerted some of us about an ongoing fetish practice that has been perpetrated for over five (5) years.

The perpetrator has been openly burying fetish items on a spot, precisely on the road that all residents pass and some even ply.

So the bubbles bursted last night. The residents insisted that the items be exhumed and the said person should desist henceforth. He initially pull up a stiff resistance as we all saw it that he was obstinate and won't yield to the community request.

We were able to make him exhume the items, which were a puppy, kitten and hen, after the case was reported at Sango Police Station, Ogun State. As I am typing, he is in the cell of the same police station. On asking why he resorted to the dastardly act of burying items on a major route in the community, he said he did it for the good of the community.

My concern is what do those items mean?
And again, when the man was asked what he does for a living. He said he engages in worship of a deity called toron.
Is this not the beginning of human rituals?

Any implications.
