Obj retired 60 Generals in a single day, out of them, 48 are core northerners, gej retired 34 Generals that are Ihejirika's seniors for him to make Ihejirika chief of Army staff, again, for him to appoint Mimina as chief of Army staff, he retired 38 Generals that are his seniors for him to appoint his favourite. I didn't support the new COAS's appointment earlier. However, looking at antecedents from 1999,i think PMB might not be wrong. Jonathan never appointed a northern muslim as COAS neither did OBJ. Yaradua never appointed a southern christian too. That's to tell you that natural kinship matters in such critical roles, especially in a divisive country like ours. I learnt that Ahanotu is a competent hand, but that doesn't mean he's the only competent in the league of generals. His being 2ic to Attahiru is not a yardstick too. GEJ skipped more than 30 generals to appoint Minimah, and they had to go.
Before some bigots come for my head, I believe in fair representation of all regions in government, and it's my firm submission that PMB's skew is towards the north not because of tribalism but elitism.
