Nigerians have called on the Federal Government to swiftly implement the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) stressing that it will bring an end to the farmer-herder crises, open grazing and many other forms of insecurity experienced today.

The citizens who took to social media to express their support for a scheme that State Governors have also urged the FG to implement, added that, it will bring economic prosperity to Nigeria.

The NLTP is a brainchild of the National Economic Council chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The plan seeks to among other things, foster peace across Nigeria, put an end to open grazing and improve the economy of Nigeria.

Advocating for NLTP to be implemented, Peter Oladele wrote on Twitter, "NLTP will bring peace to our society. There wouldn’t be conflicts between the herders and farmers because the farmer-herder clashes are usually as a result of cattle trespassing and destroying farm crops.

"The Plan will curb cattle rustling. It will not be easy for rustlers to invade a ranch and it is easy for them in bushes and open fields.

In a similar tweet, Miz Tammy called for urgent enforcement of NLTP which will end crisis and reduce milk importation, "NLTP should be implemented urgently because it will not only help to put an end to the farmer-herder clashes but improve all livestock production and reduce our dependence on diary milk importation.

NLTP will bring peace between the herders, host communities and help to put an end to kidnapping.”



A twitter user by handle @medoosa_ pointed out how NLTP already solved crisis between herders and farmers in Adamawa state, "Far as i can recollect, i think Adamawa state was first to jump at the initial offer of funding between the federal government and the state government to finance the NLTP, have we heard about any gory clash between farmers and herders in that zone in a while? She asked.


Another twitter user, Kate Nnaji called for end to killing between the farmers and herders and need to enforce NLTP, "These killings need to stop! Ban on Open Grazing is needed and there is need to ensure that farmers and herders have no reason to continuously kill one another. The Osinbajo-led NEC has come up with the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP), a form of ranching with a good and workable plan.


MidasHand emphasised on how implementation of NLTP can bring peace between the farmers, the herders and also modernise livestock system in the country, "NLTP will bring peace between farmers and the fulani herdsmen on the issues of insecurity presently occurring in the country. The NLTP provides a framework and strategic direction to transform the Nigerian livestock sector for rapid economic growth.”

In his own tweet, Tamunotonye highlighted how enforcement of NLTP would guarantee food security, job security and financial security, "I have done my research on #NLTP, it is simply the solution for physical security, food security, job security and financial security. Both farmers and herders are best productive in the ranches. This strategy addresses conflicts in the states as governors and federal government seals it.”

Bubu has okays NLTP, remain implementation ..this plan will solve crisis between the famers and herders no doubt.

This one is waste of grammar cuz buhari don't want to take ear hear peace or prosperity not to talk of equity and justice in Nigeria.

This plan has been there and will effectively help settle the farmers/ herders conflict, increase livestock farming and boost economic development.

This is a good news we have been waiting for and it Will put an end to the farmers -headsmen crisis of our land
