There lived 3 chicken in a pen, also in the pen were 10 eggs about to hatch. But Slithering outside the pen were hungry reptiles of all sorts. They knew if they were to feast on the birds and their eggs, then now rather than later was the time for it. For if the eggs hatch and the chicks grow into chickens, then the mere numbers of claws that will scamper at the sight of snake could injure the snake, thus the reptile will have to find a new food.

The chickens are the citizens and the pen is Nigeria while the slithering reptiles are drug lords (who have turned nigeria to a transit hub), the extractive corporations (who will gain when government is distracted), the war merchants (who will run guns to the most populous black country)

Imagine an ingenious plan by the snakes to sow division and conflict by exploiting something as flimsy as the colour of the birds feathers (you are red and the other is white so each of you should get its own pen house). A great argument happens between the birds and in the conflict that ensue the pen house door is broken, letting in all the creepy reptiles.
There are a thousand ways this could end, but most certainly not as the birds hopped
