i am in my late 20's married with a kid and also expecting. I know myself to be someone productive and explores any opportunity that comes my way. I used to be financially stable even before i got married but everything went out all of a sudden because of my alcohol addiction. i never thought i was addicted and could stop anytime i wanted but it just got worse. Presently I am in debts, i am expecting a child and also fighting addiction. Any advice would be welcomed in dealing with this addiction problem.

You can change, believe this, that is the beginning of your changes

Change your life style. Move with right set of people and try to control your alcohol intake.

mental health problems is pushing you to alcohol, I mean depression and anxiety. You need rehab.

If I were you, I'd do myself a favor and not look for a quick fix to this alcohol problem. Anyone selling you any fast solution to this would only land you in more trouble. Your problem didn't spring up in one day and therefore, cannot be fixed in one day.

Secondly, nature abhors a vacuum. If you're removing alcohol, you gotta be putting in something else. I know of recovering smoking addicts who took to chewing gum to help counteract the effects. But it's easier to wean yourself off of chewing gum than cigarettes. Get productive with your life, get your mind off the bottle, and focused on work and your increasing family.

Maybe you can carry around a bottle of water to take a swig from any time you get the urge. That would have the added benefit of cleansing your body system.

Thirdly, your addiction is only a symptom of a bigger problem. You have known about alcohol for at least five years and you didn't get addicted all this time. So, what changed? It's as much a mental battle as it is physical.

Fourthly, get professional help, or join an online community. A Google search can help you with this. Nobody better to help you than someone who's been there and beaten the addiction.

Are you going through depression? Is there anything that triggers your daily drinking? How productive is your usual day?

By the time you don't see money to buy ordinary shot of native kai-kai, na the addiction go use im hand pack comot for your body.

But for what it's worth, develop the habit of staying home. Reduce the amount of time you hang out, that will be a good start.

You need to check yourself and fight what got you addicted in the first place, change begins with you!

If you decide that you're ready to change and get over ur addiction, with determination, commitment and time you'll get there.

I hope it is not ogogoro??. That kills faster. In case of beer, dont stare at beer parlor twice whenever you see one when going out. Reduce your intake, and with time, you will stop

I want to say a very big thank you to everyone that took out time to comment on my thread to help. It is getting better, I do have withdrawal symptoms sometimes when I started but it is getting better. I visited a psychiatrist and it really helped a lot. I am yet to be fully sober but I am better. Hoping to be fully sober

Even if money no dey,addiction go make am go borrow or thief sef. The best thing is for him to discipline himself. Only him can say no to alcohol... When you want to go drink,think of the negative effects its having on you.. Then if you have frds,that are into it,avoid them. You can always talk on phone with them,but that going to the bar together, avoid am.
