VaselineCrew: The movement is popular for the same reason most Northerners hated GEJ In Nigeria, when your side loses, you go into opposition. Not constructive opposition, but virulent, bitter, tribalistic opposition. (Which is why some of us who think all Nigerian governments past and present are bunk tend to stay on the fence.) IPOB is popular not because of secession...but because many Southerners feel left out of the sharing of the goodies that happens when a party wins. When PDP was in the ascendancy, the goodies sharing slightrly benefited the South...when APC won, and recall that APC is percieved as a Northern party, all the goodies went to the North. Southerners were left with nothing...unless you were one of the few that joined APC on time.... Also, around the time APC came into office, the oil prices crashed. A lot of Ibos are into business...and many of them rely on forex to import the stuff they sell. And as a result of forex shortfalls due to oil prices falling...and they are still too low...government brought in forex cuts and restrictions that affected these businessmen badly. In times like these, secession becomes a useful tool to extract benefits from the center. Just as Northerners use the threat of 'sharia' to extract concessions from southern-led governments. Ultimately, the problem is Nigeria runs a share the national cake economy. And everyone is fightring for his or her share. And tribe and religion get mixed in. Then there is the overarching myth of the NORTH , so powerful to enslave the South, yet so powerless to be outwited by the South. And you know what makes me laugh. In 2011, when GEJ was in power, many Northerners did not believe in the system either...till Buhari tok over, and all of a sudden, it became cool to be a Nigerian up North. |

Vicotex: 1.It is just my opinion 2.I don't hate Igbos, neither am I opposed to anyone fighting for secession. 3.What I don't like is Nigerians...whether Hausa, Yourba or Ibo or whatever hiding under legitimate causes to fight for more chop money...and creating crisis that could lead to anarchy. 4.I also don't like THIS current government, or the past, I view all Fulani attacks as law breakers who should be in jail...and I don't hate anyone regardless of his or her tribe. So take your anger elsewhere. And anyway, I was not talking to you. 1 Like |

The Igbo man is not tied to systems. The reverse seems to be the case. He's the definition of constant adaptability. He's the spice of life. He's worth observing, studying and, in case of his foes, close markings. |

Without lgbo threads, where do you expect zombies to pour their frustrations. Without lgbo threads, how will bmc staff meet their target of posts needed to earn 30k Do you know how many lives, lgbo threads has saved. People who ordinarily will slap their wife in frustration can now pour out their frustration on lgbos. Wives thank us ohhhhhh Igbo issues helps buhari mask some of his failures. No one talks about naira at 500 a dollar, inflation at 19%, Unemployment, high cost of locally made goods, massacre in the north because like world cup, everyone is paying attention to lgbo threads. If you are not talking lgbo, don't bother us Finally without lgbo threads, how will nairaland survive. Ex. Ikonso death had 57 threads, mynd close thread till he got tired. But lt gen attairhu death had just 9 threads. Mynd had less work to do. Seun thank us for drawing traffic to your thread. E no easy to be lgbo. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Fear, hatred, greed and jealousy are the emotions at play with regard to Igbo in Nigeria. Among many ethnic groups such as the Yoruba, the fear of what Igbo would become if left to build their own country is a factor. Also, among the Yoruba who are the most vocal opposition to the Igbo self-determination quest, there is also the fear that their goose laying golden egg would be gone in terms of free proceeds from crude oil they have enjoyed for half a century without contributing anything. This is why you see them and the Northerners working overtime to create a wedge between Igbo and Southern minorities who are both the oil bearing locations in the country. Fear is also the reason some Southern minorities are against the Igbo. Fear that if Biafra secedes, that they would be dominated by the Igbo. Fear among these minorities also stems from being dominated by the Igbo drive which pales their efforts to insignificance since they mainly are dependent on the handouts from oil allocation. Also bear in mind that the minorities fear is possibly incentivized through a central campaign by the government to discourage them from joining Igbo in another country. Fear is also the reason many non-Fulani Northerners do not want Igbo to go. They do not want to be left alone with Fulani to be decimated. They all know that the ONLY ethnic group that has what it takes to resist the genocides of the Fulani who has cut wide swats in tears and blood are the Igbo. If Igbo goes, they're hopeless, even though they would not acknowledge this, all Nigerian tribes know they have not what it takes to stop the Janjaweeed. Greed can also describe the Yoruba and Fulani factor which is their interest in crude oil that would likely go with Igbo, especially a Biafra with minorities. Then in summary of the hatred and jealousy is that Igbo is the only tribe that unites Nigerian tribes due to these factors. They hate and are jealous of the Igbo spirit which they classify as domination. It's just like what happened to the Jews of Europe. Hate them because you cannot be like them. These are the reasons every dolt has an opinion about Igbo. They are a people you cannot but help having an opinion about. Even the whiteman doesn't want an Igbo country because they do not want to a black race mount real challenge to the assertion that blacks are an inferior race. That, is what an Igbo country would disprove. |
