erico2k2:since assumption of office, PMB is yet to sell oil above $70, the price at which Gej started borrowing to pay salaries. Now the external reserve is at $34B up from $29B despite oil prices below what Gej sold and even PMB settling most debts owed contractors and pensioners. And can u deny the infrastrctural drive of PMB? |

naptu2: lol!!! Why not tell us when this project started, how much has been spent prior to CBN's intervention, what happened to the World bank loans and how long it has been under construction? Do you know how many countries started construction after us that have completed theirs years back? The project is a good one but has been used to milk taxpayers' money for too long 1 Like 2 Shares |

niyisky: High Migration is normal and it is happening all over the world. USA New York, for an example New York was now over populated to an extent there are traffic everywhere and same happens is India too... Check out too 10 worse traffic in the world and you will see that Lagos is not even over populated yet every country has that place like Lagos. It's normal |

Bashir75: You see where you ignorance has gotten the best of you in HD. Late Alex Ekweme and Dr Sam Mbakwe were in the same 79 class as Jakande and their achievements are still displayed in the east till today especially Sam Mbakwe as governor of old Imo state. |

Officialgarri: Lagos has always done well on infrastructure (even before the APC was formed)… Nonetheless, agree that the APC government has done well on rail infrastructure (but no different on electricity, housing, etc.). Borrowing money to compensate for lower oil revenue isn’t really great economic wizardry… It’s our generation and our kids (and their kids) who’ll pay for these projects, because the government couldn’t expand its revenue base! > |

Bishopsgate: Except that Lagos is not a country… Harder for a sub national to raise capital compared to sovereigns. Further, massive infrastructure projects can be difficult to execute for various reasons… Even New York City in a developed economy took DECADES to complete its Second Ave line. Let’s just be glad to see continuous progress… Even delays can be a blessing in disguise (eg, better technology, better rolling stock, etc.). > |

cyrilamx: The value of your local currency has little or NO correlation with economic strength… Kuwait’s currency is over 3x the strength of the dollar, while the Japanese Yen trades at over 110 to the dollar. Furthermore, Nigeria could always do a “Ghana” which simply deleted 3 zeros from its cedi… Only reason Nigerians obsess over currency valuation is that we import virtually everything, an indictment of our economic capacity. Meanwhile, while the economic recession of 2015 was inevitable (it affected ALL commodity producers)… Buhari’s economic illiteracy/inertia WORSENED AND PROLONGED it. Many countries in a similar position quickly turned things around. > 1 Like |

9jaRealist:What would u have done different to avert the imminent recession as president wen oil plummeted from $70 early 2015 to $23 after the handover and then the Niger Delta Avengers started blowing up pipelines which crippled production from 2m bpd too 700 thousand? And external reserve was depleted from $43B to $27B, then more than 26 states needed urgent bail out? I think u forgot the dire situation of the economy PMB inherited. You forgot it now the president is even buying military hardwares to fight insurgency. So tell me what u would hv done differently. 1 Like |

Sipsum:OPEC basket is an average not a specific price and it's usually hovering around $4 below Brent. So what exactly is your point here? The fact is that Nigeria was selling oil steadily when it was going for $100+ between 2011 and 2014 with Brent averaging $110, in other words - we made more than what we ever did at any point in history but lost the opportunity by wasting a chunk of what was made. That is the MAJOR, that is THE TRUTH that matters. The specific daily price of oil and whether it occasionally hovered below $100 as part of OPEC basket at any point within that period is the MINOR. Why are you focusing on the MINOR? |
