Biafra Republic Versus Igbo Republic by nigerianrevolut(f): 10:36pm On Jun 15
My name is Bibinidei. My daddy is Ijaw and mummy is Igbo. Let me not even go into the different tribes of my paternal and maternal grandmas. If we add everything, I'm half South-South half South-East with a little bit of South-West and North-Central blood. I'm giving all this background info because I'm confused.
Nigeria looks as if it will breakup soon. Boko Haram, Herdsmen, Bandits, Unknown Gunmen, corrupt government and hungry youths. I'm tired. So, do I support my dad's country? Do I go with my mom's country? Or do I go with my own country? I know you're now confused too abi?
The thing is my dad and mom love each other but they always disagree on one issue. Daddy is angry that the Igbos are trying to force Niger-Deltans into their Biafra. In his words: "Ojukwu tried it and failed. Now Nnamdi Kanu wants to try it again." He says the Igbo should focus on their own Igbo country and leave the Niger-Delta people alone to either remain in Nigeria or to form their own independent Niger-Delta country. Mummy feels bad that Daddy thinks that her people are trying to force his people into anything. She says they are one and she would prefer a big Biafra with her husband's Niger-Delta region inside it than to have a dot-in-a-circle small independent Igbo country.
Left to me, daddy and mummy are going nowhere. I would prefer if my parents and I could separate from the North to fly a SOUTH NIGERIA flag.
Na the matter I dey try settle since. I need Niger-Delta people and Igbo people to help me settle this matter. Which country will be the best for you?
A. NDIGBO REPUBLIC AND NIGER-DELTA REPUBLIC
B. BIAFRA REPUBLIC (60% IGBOS AND 40% NIGER-DELTA)
Please choose one and tell me the reason why you chose what you chose.
Note: I found the attached image on a Facebook page called IGBO REPUBLIC.

Re: Biafra Republic Versus Igbo Republic by gidgiddy: 11:32pm On Jun 15
There are 3 things I don't understand about some people.
1) Nnamdi Kanu and the Biafran agitators want referendum where everyone can choose what they want, so how is referendum force? The same person saying Kanu is forcing him into Biafra is the same person Lugard forced into Nigeria without referendum. He is not complaining about Nigeria which he was firced into and already exists. But he is complaining about a Biafra that is yet to exist snd will be created by referendum? That one is madness
2) Someone says he wants Niger Delta Republic. The same person sees Biafra agitation, the same person sees Oduduwa agitation, but he does nothing for Niger Delta agitation. To this day, there is no group agitating for Niger Delta Republic and we have see not a single protest for it.

We are South South zone or Niger Delta deal with it , we don't want Biafra
Re: Biafra Republic Versus Igbo Republic by stev120(m): 11:41pm On Jun 15
The Igbos are one tribe, Ijaw is another tribe but South south or Niger Delta is not a tribe but the name given to tribes who reside in a region with oil deposit.
One, oil united them
Two, there are Igbos there too
Three, Niger Delta republic is Ijaw affair (search for its origin)
I think it's high time every one speak for themselves like Ibibio, Efik, and so on. Because it seems like the Ijaw are guilty of what they accuse the Igbos.
Well, to your question a genuine referendum will help everyone decide.

Rivers, ekpeye here, I'm for Biafra. A referendum should be nothing to be afraid of the people simply decide whether they're for Biafra or not when it happen we see the results

1.What is Biafra?
2. When did it come into existence?
3.Who brought it into existence?
4. Was there a referendum to decide who wanted to be a part of Biafra before it was declared?
Re: Biafra Republic Versus Igbo Republic by ScamHunter: 4:10am On Jun 16
My dear, let me tell you what you do not know. Igbos want an Igbo ONLY country, but for some unknown reasons, IPOB wants the 1967 Biafra, plus other Igbos not captured in that Biafra. These are Igbos in Edo, Delta, Kogi and Benue. Some think it may be because of access to the sea that they want the minorities in the South, but that should not be an issue. Even if Ijaw, Ogoni, Annang, Ibibio and Ikwerre refuse to join Biafra, the Igbo nation can create access to the sea through the Urashi River and River Niger. But if the Ikwerre who deny their Igboness and Opobo which is owned by Igbo become part of the new nation, that would not be an issue since these are bounded by the Atlantic. So with either Opobo or Ikwerre, Biafra would have direct access to the sea, but if these vote in a referendum not to be part of Biafra, dredging the River Niger and Urashi River would be the options left. This could be settled through a maritime agreement. Afterall, oil and gas are piped from the SE and SS all the way to the North and beyond. So accounts can be balanced with that.
Having said that, let me also say that if Igbos leave Nigeria without the Southern minorities, it will be a tough call for them to get their own country. These things just do not work that way. You see, Igbo are paying the price of self determination and it is only a matter of time for the world to hear them. Let me tell you what will happen then. The call for referendum will be honored and that referendum will be for all Igbo in Nigeria and the former Biafra of 1967. Nevertheless, the minorities such as Ijaw can speak up loudly not to be included in the referendum but I doubt that that would work with the UN. All would be made to participate and decide if they would be part of Biafra or not. That is when people like your daddy can make their voices heard. Ijaw is a closely knit tribe and I am sure that they can make their voices heard as one people and decide not to be part of Biafra. In which case, they revert back to Nigeria when Igbo and others that vote Yes exit.
Now on a final note, do not think that Ijaw and the minorities would casually demand for a referendum after Igbo has gone. It doesn't work that way, the choice before them is join Igbo or remain in Nigeria. There is no middle ground. I suspect that this is why IPOB is insisting on carrying along the minorities - the power in numbers. If Biafra exits without the minorities, not even in 100 years would they have the voice to get a referendum from the UN. They lack that clout as minorities, so their voice is Igbo. You can take a cue from the Kurds in Iraq and Turkey who have been agitating for decades. Igbo are paying with resilience and blood. Can the minorities do that when Igbo are gone? Good luck to you.

Thank you for taking your time to write this sir. But don't you think the Niger-Delta can demand for their own "Nigeria-NigerDelta referendum" to hold at the same time with the "Nigeria-Biafra referendum" of the Igbos? Must Nigeria breakup only into Nigeria and Biafra? The USSR broke up into 15 countries. Can't something similar play out with Nigeria's breakup? Or won't the United Nations allow Nigeria breakup into more than two countries?
Although, I would've preferred it if Nigeria can breakup into two which are:
A. NIGERIA (with the North-East, North-West and Abuja)
B. SOUTH NIGERIA (with the old Southern Nigeria protectorate and the Middle-Belt).
Re: Biafra Republic Versus Igbo Republic by chukwunweikeemi(m): 9:37am On Jun 16
Sounds perfect if the country breaks into Northern and Southern parts.I would support a northern and southern breakup to a biafran,Oduduwa,or Niger Delta secession.
Re: Biafra Republic Versus Igbo Republic by EdoDefence: 9:54am On Jun 16
Niger Delta and Biafra can never be one, so your dad is right.
Biafra is free to take the Ibo communities in Niger Delta region along with them.
And yes Nigeria cannot break into 2, Niger Delta people will not be a party to that, we will have our own nation the rest regions can form Southern Nigeria
Re: Biafra Republic Versus Igbo Republic by EdoDefence: 10:05am On Jun 16
Yugoslavia broke up into 6 countries, so why will Nigeria only break up into 2 or 3?
When the time comes, your referendum is happening only on Igbo soil. You cannot force your Biafra on any ethnic group by way of referendum. We have grown past that logic.
Who are the voters? Ibos in those non Ibo land will as well vote as if they are from that region.
Think of another logic this one is stale already
If any referendum is happening it's going the Yugoslavia way.

Keep dreaming. You think Nigeria would fold its hands and lose territory after territory? Keep dreaming. If Igbo goes, you guys should be ready to fight and die and pay with blood the way Igbo are paying. Let me tell you, you can check the last referendum around here for the British Cameroons mandate. Referendum do not happen casually. And this will be all Igbo plus Biafra. Those people have to decide to join or not. You'll understand what I just said after it happens. The world do not listen to doublespeakers. They know who wants to go and who is responsible for the agitation. Do you think there is no agitation going on in Ethiopia now? Who is listening to them after Eritrea referendum. Jokers like Yoruba who are eyeing presidency with one eye while pretending they want exit will be shocked. You think the world do not know? What is the use of ambassadors and intelligence agencies? The only ethnic group likely to get referendum in Nigeria is the Igbo. Anyone that misses it at that point is stuck with Nigeria and their Fulani hegemony.

When Eritrea was leaving the Oromo and others were given the option to break also and form their own nation but they chose to stay in Ethiopia. Read it again.
UN never forces anyone to join any nation, the votes is Leave or stay, not stay in Nigeria or join Biafra.
Look lemme tell you something if Nigeria breaks into 6 or more it favours your people cos you will be able to make better deals instead of dealing with the northerners who would rather starve you than accept any deal from you. Think and stop being myopic, the fact we don't want to be part of your Biafra is not a declaration of war or hatred

Yes and no. They can agitate for their own nation, but they're not doing that. No one would wake up and give them a referendum. You can see how much and how far IPOB has gone and still no referendum for them. Do you think that it's possible for any group that has not even started? The world is watching. And from the president's last statement, you can decipher that there is possibility that IPOB would get a referendum. You see, the world knows those who are agitating for self-determination and those who are playing politics. They know those who want to leave and are making their voices heard and those who are satisfied with being in Nigeria. As far as representations are concerned, the world knows about Biafra. No one takes Niger Delta or even Oduduwa seriously. There are ambassadors in this country and they know that Yoruba are playing games with the hope of presidency more than being serious with self determination. They also know that the so called Niger Delta is not even feasible and that even the people such as Ijaw do not really believe in it. That is why no agitation. The Ijaw are just confused on what will become of them if Igbo succeeds and I think they would rather stay in Nigeria. Fulani are considering a referendum for Igbo for the first time because Igbo has proven to be spoilers for their agenda. So why would they (united Nations) let Igbo go and automatically any other region? It doesn't work that way. Niger Delta is not even agitating and even if they start today, it'll take a long time before anyone hears them. When you hear of balkanization such as happened in USSR and Yugoslavia. All the entities agitated at the same time. That was why they separated at the same time. For the USSR, it started with the Baltic states, then others joined. For Yugoslavia, it started in Bosnia and others joined. But in Nigeria, Only Igbo are serious to exit and only Igbo will likely exit if they wanted only Igbo nation. It is even fortunate happenstance that IPOB is considering other minorities such as IJaw, in which case they have the opportunity of still staying in Nigeria. Truly, I wish Igbo would forget the minorities and exit alone. Everyone would be happy that way, even Fulani.

This hateful Ijaw man. I would have given you a piece of my mind if I've not already taken note of you as an irresponsible and no-good Ijaw man. But for the benefit of my reasonable Ijaw people, I'd let your misdemeanor slide. As I told you earlier, many responsible and reasonable Ijaw men marry our sisters, so I honor them because of that. If it were for no-good riffraffs like you....anyway.

ScamHunter:You put it down simply for anyone to understand. Those who know Igbos very well know that we call off people's bluff easily. Igboland has all it will take to make us a great country yet those of us in IPOB see that bigger picture. If we dismiss off the other smaller tribes of the SS and go alone, it will still return to hurt (not hunt) us. We have a lot of our blood brothers there who's current foolishness can be so exasperating yet we remain resolute bearing the pain because we see ahead. If for any reason we go without them (non-Igbos of the Niger Delta), they will be wiped out. It's very clear for everyone to see except them. The role Igbos are playing in Nigeria currently is too much. The balance of power we bring is very evident yet others who are suppose to help us win and bring safety for all prefer to play politics with it. The sahelian terrorist know this that's why they're working day and night to strengthen themselves further while our own cousins and neighbours are still toying with the situation neither strengthening themselves nor weakening the current terrorist government. Destinies are being designed currently but those that should be most concerned think it's just politics. There is no middle ground currently which a lot of Yorubas are just realising. If you don't want Biafra, start fighting for your own country. Don't remain silent and indirectly aid the common enemy.

Thank you for your mature contributions sirs. I'm learning so much here.
I want to ask Biafrans and Niger-Deltans hard questions:
To IPOB and Biafrans: What are you people willing to do to convince Niger-Deltans that the Igbos won't become the new Hausa-Fulanis in your Biafra?
To Niger-Deltans: If Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB decide to change the name of their country from Biafra to NIGER-DELTA REPUBLIC with the Niger-Delta flag and add the zoning system to their constitution, will Niger-Deltans and the militants agree to join the agitation?
Re: Biafra Republic Versus Igbo Republic by ScamHunter: 11:55am On Jun 16
You are very correct my brother. The burden on Igbo is just too much. I was asking someone sometime ago why Igbo should be the one dying for the minorities to gain a new country and reprieve, considering that they do not even appreciate the sacrifices Igbo is making. What we have continually seen since we found ourselves as people born in this country is that it seems that Igbo always sees ahead. For instance, in 2014, I warned from friends from Benue and S Kaduna of the prospect of genocide if they fell for the error of empowering the Jihadists, they scoffed. Even with the clarity of pattern, the so-called minorities are still very blind, just like the Yoruba. I understand things better with your comment. Who would want what is happening in Israel to happen to us. Obviously, we are the buffer they have, even though stupid pride will never allow them admit that. Just as Benue has been our buffer for decades. Leaving without them is akin to having ourselves surrounded by the Janjaweeeed, because they won't survive their onslaught.

I'm almost in same situation with you.
My dad is Anioma while my mom is half Anioma and half yoruba (her dad is Yorubas while mom is Anioma)
My dad narrated how my grandpa almost got killed by the military in the village once during the war . They said he was hiding igbos or something like that, cant quite remember, maybe I'll ask him again. He seem to support Biafra.
I don't yet know my mom's view yet as I haven't asked her.
Well, me personally. My view will always remain the same.
It's either a Niger Delta Republic, or nothing.
Once admired the igbos but theyve shown to be a very toxic people
