How much did he make?

So far $50 was not stated to be the fixed cost of the cat.

He made no gain.
The first gain of same $10 he made from the previous transaction was not enough for the second transmission, hence he added a $10 (probably borrowed) to the sales price of $60. He only recoupe his cost of investment.
