Gov. Matawalle's Defection To APC, Another Sacrifice He Is Making For Peace To Reign In Zamfara

It is a cacophony of voices each one swearing to know better than the other.
That is how the topic of everyday, Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has become within the rank and file of the Northern political hemisphere.

For the last one year or so the subject of discussion within seasoned political analysists has been whether or not Matawallen Maradun and Shittiman Sokoto will defect to the opposition party in Zamfara State, the All Progressive Congress, APC.

And now, after months of speculations, Zamfara Governor, Bello Matawalle, is expected to formally defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) this week.

His defection is coming after the Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade and Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State left the PDP for the ruling party.

Meanwhile, just like he is widely known to be the originator of the 'carrot and stick' approach to politics in Nigeria, Governor Matawalle is scoring another point in his drive to secure his people from constant attacks that has led to many displaced people in the gold-rich State.

Let peace reign has been his constant song since 2015 after the ruling party lost its bid to govern Zamfara following a Supreme Court judgment which ruled that the ruling party did not conduct valid primary in the build up to the 2019 governorship election.

The APC governorship candidate, Mukhtar Idris, had been declared winner of the election after he polled 534,541 votes but the apex court upheld the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Sokoto Division, which ruled that no valid primary was conducted by the party in the state.

And in a bid to change the narratives in Zamfara State, Governor Matawalle upon taking the mantle of leadership as the Executive Governor of Zamfara State on the 29th of May 2019, His Excellency Bello Mohammed MoN (Matawallen Maradun), did not waste time in indicating his interest and passion in restoring peace to the state, transforming the economy of the state and creating a conducive atmosphere for investment, business development and partnerships for the state and prospective foreign and local investors...

The post does not show any way the man is making peace. He did not win the election so he can throw the victory away anyhow.
