Okay so started learning differential calculus a while back and made this post to be updating and explaining it well according to my understanding so lets begin

So lets start with what is called a limit a limit is basically an approximation of what a function is approaching as the x gets closer and closer to let's say a variable to our target lets call it c

When given a function

f(x)=x/2-3 if we want to find the limit we write it as.

c=1

lim x/2-3
x-->c
