A Stranger Returned My Goods To The Seller, Picked Costlier Ones And Paid by Froshey: 7:29pm On Jun 30, 2021 |
So this morning, I was almost leaving a petty trader's shop when a lady I met there (also a customer) asked me if the bread and butter I bought would fill me, she was serious, else I would've responded with a cruise reply of "no, will you get me something better? " But I simply said yes, at the same time trying to guess what her reply would be. Surprisingly she drew closer and asked me to drop the bread and picked a bigger one with an extra satchet of butter, I was silent but making a body signal, like would she cover the extra cost? She got the signal and said I should not worry, so I stood and watched as she told the mama to return the amount I paid for the bread and butter to me(I bought some other things apart from bread). As if that wasn't enough, she paused and asked if I have oil at home to which I replied yes, so she took the butter and returned it, she said eggs would be better. In short, she paid the cost of the bread and butter she picked for me and made to leave, beckoning on me to follow her that she sell eggs and so I should come for the eggs in her hostel, lol. At that moment, confusion is an understatement. I was overly confused that I only stood as if carried away watching the event unfold between the lady and someone else. "It's nothing, I'm sent to do this, I'm replicating the way strangers have helped me too by doing this" she said in our native language trying to convince me to follow her, she also faced the mama, telling both of us and listing various occasions strangers have wowed her by helping her with cash, materially and being kind. No! I insisted, so she came back with my polythene bag as she had already picked my bag asking me to follow her, she then went ahead and picked 4 eggs from the mama's crates and paid for it also, telling me not to be shy, lol. Little did she knew that I was more than shy, I was only standing like the little guy I am, local man is already catching fear So, she went her way after paying, I still stood there, trying to discern if she was really sent from God , and also if it's moral or safe for me to accept this gifts from a stranger out of the blue, I was trying to recall morals mama at home taught me, and if mama would be pleased with me accepting this offer. I simply asked for her whatsapp contact, and allowed her to leave before re-buying what I initially bought, and paid to the mama. I know the mama would be grateful to both of us that partook in giving her extra gains; :Dthe lady for her kindness to me, and to me for refusing it. I can remember the mama telling me that people like them are omo-omi, as if praising me for being a good child . Have you ever experienced such people? Kindly share. 4 Likes 1 Share |

The annoying thing for me is reading that the mama concluded she's "omo-omi." C'mon! I understand your fear. I'd be awestruck too. But, the reality is, this world still has millions of caring hearts, people who genuinely care about others! If na me sha.. I go flex my egg, save my money! 10 Likes |

The lady was only being nice and do not read any diabolic meaning to it. I randomly do this when I go to stores as well just that I won't buy new one for u I would rather pay for the one u bought. 8 Likes |

Orlaoluwayimika:yeah, but I guess you won't insist and almost cause a drama if anyone typically humbly rejects ur kind gesture. She was even pleading me not to drop the stuffs after she'd have gone. All these only helped more in stimulating my security consciousness. She might have a really clean mind and intention, but I just preferred to be on the safer side. |

I'm disappointed in u for returning the groceries after the woman left. Why do most Nigerians instill fears in themselves with their belief in voodoo? 2 Likes |

You could've taken the groceries to the less privileged. It would've put bread on someone's table. Omo-omi my foot. 2 Likes |

There's nothing to be happy about what you experienced rather you should look for ways to improve your life. The said lady had pity on you when she saw poverty , suffering and hunger all over you. It's not a good thing for someone to rejoice when they get crumbs..it shows hopelessness. 1 Like |

Froshey: @OP it’s simple, God has been trying to get your attention to the fact what you having been asking from Him is too small. God wants to do more in your life but you keep rejecting it out of fear of the unknown You have limited yourself so much in life take that you are comfortable with so little. He has tried to tell you this subtly now He is taking more drastic measures by reaching into the physical to let you know. @OP Isaiah 54:2 - Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes 2 Likes

It happens dear, only that it happens more to ladies. But we take it for granted. I've done same for guys without strings attached, esp when I got some free money or as an emphatic human or maybe the guys strikes me as my brother or something. It's normal anyway. Enjoy your meal, not everything has to make sense. |

I had similar experience. I boarded a bus in Lagos. A man entered the bus and I greeted him with my 32 teeth all showing. The way he was looking at me was a bit confusing due to the fact that he was trying to recollect if we have ever met not knowing that's the way I do greet with all smiles. The man gave me #1,000 to give the conductor that I should pay for the both of us and keep the change. That moment really brought so much happiness for me that day. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Froshey:that woman is living in fallacy, Mami water doesn't exist, it's imaginary, meaning it only exist in your mind. And for the record, the lady only gave because she knew giving out is one of the secrets of more riches, protection etc. That's why the Lord Jesus Christ said it's more better to give than to receive. A person who lives in sin but gives out kindly and frequently gets more blessing and reward than a stingy saint. |
