Tottenham Hotspur football club have appointed Portuguese gaffer Nuno Espírito Santo as their new manager on a two-year deal, Newspremises reports.

Spurs announced Santo’s appointment Wednesday night, June 30, in a statement released on their official website.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Nuno Espírito Santo as our new Head Coach on a contract until 2023.

“Nuno arrives following a four-year spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he guided the club from the Championship into the Premier League and secured consecutive seventh place finishes in their first two seasons back in the top flight – their highest league position since 1980.

“He also restored the Molineux outfit to European competition, leading them to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League in 2019/20.

“In tandem with Wolves’ progress on the pitch, Nuno developed individual players such as Conor Coady, Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves, Willy Boly and our own Matt Doherty from the second tier into established Premier League and European talent, while also furthering the development of players such as Raul Jimenez, Pedro Neto and Adama Traore.

“Earlier in his coaching career, Nuno guided Portuguese side Rio Ave to two cup finals and qualification for the UEFA Europa League for the first time in their history before taking over at Valencia in 2014, where he steered the Spanish outfit to Champions League football with a fourth place finish in La Liga.

“A former goalkeeper in his playing days, he subsequently spent one season in charge of one of his former clubs, Porto, where the team finished second and lost only two league games all season under his stewardship.”

Danny Levi, the tight-fisted chairman of Tottenham got it right this time.

Nuno is a like for like replacement of Mauricio Pochetino and I have always admire the two young managers on how they turn a relatively unknown players to International Football stars.

This should be a message to the Arsenal board to do away with the Spanish fraud called Arteta and bring in a tactically sound manager.

This man is going to alter Tottenham's style of play heavily.

The next time you get to watch Tottenham play, you might not even be able to recognize them. Their firepower in front of goal might even suffer for it considering Nuno's style of coaching.

I pray their fans don't end up seeing red.

Don't get me wrong. Nuno is a good manager. But I don't think he is the man for the Spurs job. He should have remained at Wolves.

On the flip side... I expect to see more players of Portuguese stock heading to Spurs. Nuno style.

Yes, he might alter their playing style, but I believe with time the team will blend to his own style...

Let us use Jurgén Kloop as example, his style of play while he was at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund was totally different from the way Liverpool played under Kenny Daglish and Brendan Rodgers, but when given time with the team, they blend with his high pressing style and delivered on the occasion.

NES just need the backing of that tight-fisted Chairman, and you will see how he will flourish with the team.
