Dear God we thank You for another wonderful day and another step toward perfection, we say be exalted.

Dear Followers of Christ,
Life is cyclic as much as it is linear. Jacob would probably have never thought that the seed he sowed in Esau's life would bear him for in this manner. Even though he ran from his father's house all the way to a distant country he deeds still followed him.
Brethren, we can borrow a leaf from this. This is a very adept proof of the principle of sowing and reaping. Whatever you do, keep in mind that a harvest is coming and prepare yourself for that harvest.

God of Hosts, we salute Your reverential self. Thank You for all You are and for all You do, let Your name be magnified.

Dear Followers of God,
The parallels which can be drawn in the lives of the patriarchs are honestly pretty scary.
A similar occurrence to the above passage was recorded to transpire between Esau and Jacob, where Jacob tricked Esau into selling his birthright. Let's not even start on the issue of barrenness.
But we thank God that God is not a God of negatives and no positives. He is a helper of the downtrodden and He came around according to his time.

Dear Followers of Christ,
The above is a very funny and familiar passage... It tells of the tales of Jacob in Laban's house. They both schemed, counterschemed, and deceived each other.
But alas, God intervened as He has been known for, He put an end to this seeming never ending cycle.
Never use your position of authority to oppress, never even oppress, no matter what wrongs have been done to you, remember that God is the ultimate superior, nothing escapes His eyes and He will surely bring a just reward.
Learn from Laban, treat everyone justly.

Dear Followers of God,
Many people are conversant with the story of Jacob, but few can boast the same of Esau, the Bible isn't very detailed about it either.
But from the little we are provided with, it is obvious that Esau was a person that would push as had as he could as far as there was even a sliver of a chance.
Don't be content with Your lot, strive to go farther, strive to go higher, yesterday was about the struggle of Jacob, today's about Esau.
Life is not fair, only the strong have the right to get what they deserve. Serve God, that is the right way to get power, do it with all you have.

Dear Followers of Christ,
I can't help drawing few parallels between the above mentioned situation and the situation between the Jews and the Gentile Church. The Bible is full of Easter eggs that it's crazy to look past.
I won't condemn anyone in the above passage because the matter is very complex. For example, Later on, God gave a command that the Israelites are not to intermarry with the heathen. So in a way the sons of Jacob were pardonable in their actions. Also, I get the feeling that the consent of both parties weren't really sought out? I mean if two people agree they are free to marry right?
Anyway, what we have to say today is never judge any situation by face value.

Dear Followers of Christ,
The passage above contains a vital message in communion with God.
God is a Holy God, who cannot stand the sight of sin. Therefore those who are to come before Him must be Holy too. In the old testament, sacrifices of animals would suffice to atone sin. But in the new order, the blood of Jesus has been given once and for all.
But it's still amazing how people still ignore or are ignorant of this truth. When seeking an audience with God, a pure heart is necessary, one that is free from distractions and evil thoughts, it may be hard but sincerity goes a long way.

Dear Followers of Christ,
Ordinary people may find it impossible to reconcile the image of The desperate Esau who was bawling for literally crumbs of his Father's blessings because he was outsmarted by his junior brother with the imposing Esau who was so immensely wealthy that he could birth a nation even as a foreigner in the land.
One thing that is obvious in life is the non-obviousness of the labor a person puts in inorder to succeed, sure, success is a delicate recipe derived from myriad ingredients but still personal effort should not be looked lightly on.
A reason many people get envious of successful people of because they fail to see the hours of desperate effort put into a thing before success can be achieved, they only see the bed of roses, not the path of thorns.
One thing to note is that, doing the exact same thing a successful person did does not necessarily guarantee you will succeed. If life is an objective examination (choose the correct option) then everyone is given different exam questions. We all are assigned different roles in this strategy game called life, a firefighter won't get the same training a farmer will get. I hope you get my point.
Put aside envy and don't try to blindly copy others. Work on Yourself... Leave the rest to God, I assure You, You will be surprised.

Jealousy and envy are amongst the most destructive sins.
No matter how much of a 'tattletale' Joseph was, His brothers would not have killed him, but when you compound the love his Father had for him with his domineering dreams, envy was kindled and that led to what it led to.
Never fall into the pit of envy, Cain fell into it and he didn't have a good result. Neither did the brothers of Joseph.
All the same, divine ordination is a tricky thing to understand. Every great man has storms to weather, but let not that storm be You.

Lots of time, people misunderstand and misinterpret God as being one dimensional, either as good or as bad. The way to correct this misunderstanding is to change the way You see God, don't look at Him as a creation, rather as The Creator. Recognize His sovereignty and absoluteness. He has the right to decide and take appropriate judgement for any circumstance. He decides what is right and what is wrong.
Another thing to note is that everything has a purpose, whether it is obvious or not God's Judgement is The best possible.

The story of Joseph is a popular one. God loves a man with a righteous heart. Determine to be that for God. I am not certain on how long Joseph spent in Potiphar's house or in the prison, but I'm sure he had a lot of time to think and reflect. He could have chosen to hate, his brothers, Potiphar's wife, Potiphar and do on. But since he wasn't living for them, he decided to let them go and focus his attention on who he served.
Let that be your conviction today.

Much has been said about dreams from time immemorial. Sadly despite the emphasis placed, many continue to underestimate the importance of this mystical phenomenon. For a good reason though.
But that not withstanding, dreams are not things to be played with. In the case of the above scripture, the fate of Millions hinged on the dream of a single person. In retrospect, Joseph was able to attain his height because of dreams, directly or indirectly, his life was a series of interweaving dreams both of his and of others.
Another crucial factor to be noted from the passage is that, dreams and their interpretations come from God. Don't take any dream lightly, it may be a signal to your upliftment or a herald of doom, each has their own differing ways of being addressed, all according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Today, we are not here to debate on the morality of Joseph's actions, we are here for another matter.
No matter how high or how well accomplished or even how dejected you are, always remember your dreams. Don't lose sight of your goal, and once you see an opportunity to push it through don't miss it.
A popular saying is "Opportunity cometh but once". I don't know nor care about the veracity of that quote but what I do know is that God is a God of opportunities, they say "Heaven helps those who help themselves". It may or may not be true, again not important what is important is grabbing hold of God's promises which are the main component of any worthwhile dream and hold fast the God given chance to achieve it.

Procrastination is the arch nemesis of opportunity.
It is one thing to put of an act because of inability and another to do so because of laziness.
God has clearly expressed His dislikes for laziness many times in the scripture.
Let's not take the above passage contextually but at face value, for the sake of the lesson out teaches.
Procrastination is one of the major tools the devil uses to rob believers of their blessing and of course, unbelievers of their salvation.
Pray to the Lord for a firm will, one that leaves no place for compromise.

Filial piety is a virtue that has been hailed across the lands and ages as a vital part of a person.
God expressly says to Obey our parents, though it seems there is a caveat, 'in the Lord'. This means as far as it does not contradict God's will, we are allowed to go as far as we can to show our honor for our parents.
Quite unfortunately, many in the world allow their feelings to dictate of they will honor their parent, that ought not to be so. God is a God of hierarchy, He is not an author of confusion. And in God's plan parents are king, they are at the apex of the chain of command. Learn from Judah.

Many things and many lessons can be distilled from the above speech which The then Prime Minister of Egypt gave to his long lost brothers at their reunion.
But what really struck me was the mindset, he refused to look at his situation as man-made problems, instead he saw them as God ordained opportunities... Sure a person could say "Easy for you to say, he was a prime minister". But I tell ya, of you are not diligent over little you can't be made Ruler over much. It's a basic scriptural law.
Learn to adjust your situation based on your mindset and not your mindset based on your situation.

We can derive a very important lesson from this passage of scripture. Like my Pastor implied today, the best strategy is to sell God's face.
Jacob didn't assume that since God told his Father (Isaac) /Gen.26:1-2/ not to go to Egypt during the famine of that time that could just follow the examples of the past.
Every situation is unique, that is not to put off the place of extrapolation, but first is to sell the face of God, before you take any decision, especially major ones.
It might be hard but righteousness, dedication and the grave of God will say you through.

Paternal blessings have been a resounding theme in the bible and especially in the lives of the patriarchs, for some reason, this proves that it must have at least done importance. Lots of fathers like Jacob, delayed their deaths until they had a chance to bless their children.
Another point to be noted from this chapter is that, your past actions, interactions and relations have a lot of impart on the blessing received. Sadly many don't care.
Parental blessings, especially heartfelt ones carry incredibly weight spiritually. But ofcourse, there are some who have lost their parents due to one thing or the other. My advice of to find and adopt a parent. Treat them sincerely. You know what You are after.
But blessings don't make a person omnipotent, so also work on Yourself, don't really on external factors alone.

The bare truth is that nothing is really ever wasted, no matter what it is, good or bad. Better to sow good seeds today, it may blossom in Your lifetime or in that of your children, but it will surely come. Nothing is ever a waste.

The call of Moses is a funny one to me... It shows that no matter how far you run, God and His plan will find you out, with our without your permission.
The main point for today is in the above passage; Before a need or challenge arises the answer or solution has already been prepared and is within reach, we just haven't realized and activated it yet.

In many ways, we are sojourners and strangers in this world. And ordinarily, we aren't to receive anything worthwhile. But God has made a promise and He will fulfill it. The scripture says "The Earth of the Lord's" it doesn't matter what your present circumstances are, what you should know is that God will give us this land, even this land we are strangers in, with a mighty hand. Few days ago, we made mention of the fact that many times, God handles things in a way that seems to escalate matters. And to be honest, no one can admit to being a huge fan of that.
Today's passage says "But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments."
There is a good reason, God is doing what He is doing, He wants to manifest Himself, not only to You but to your enemies too. There is a God reason God is called a jealous God.
He wants them to know that You are not someone to be treated casually. That's why He allows certain things: to keep the balance of cause and effect, heavy affliction requires spectacular deliverance... You get the point?
So guys, chill. When it feels like your problems are just getting bigger, disproportionate to your strength, thank God, that could well be a sign that God has taken interest in your case and is stepping in.
Another reason is to give a push, to give you motivation to do what you are supposed to do. Probably, you are not putting enough effort into the part you have to play to facilitate your deliverance, so God increases the heat. So that the needed quality in you can be perfectly refined and brought to bear for the whole world to see.

Dear Followers of Christ,
Sometimes when we reflect and gaze on the pure power God has, it just boggles my mind.
We can't help but be awed and humbled. And the fact that He has this power, the power to cause so much chaos that humans have no choice than to fear Him, but He still chooses to leave us to carry on life naturally. He still chooses to wait till we come to terms with Him on our own accord. My heart can't help but melt.
And the fact that He actually did this terrible and unnerving miraculous sign for His people, I mean wow. Indeed, only someone under external control like Pharaoh can still remain stubborn in the face of this brute strength.
God is greater than the limits of the imagination. Learn to revere Him.

We especially like as the motive of Moses' insistence on the bringing along of the cattle and possession of the children of God was not to satiate their hunger but to sacrifice to the Lord God, it really sheds light on priorities. Priorities every child of God should have.
They saw the cattle, as God's sacrifice, not as food. Wow. Amazing. This is the kind of heart the King of kings delights in, one that prioritizes Him above self and above all else.
Make this Your prayer, ask for the heart to place God first in all aspects of Life.

Creator of All Creation, we, Your creation are here to worship You. We thank You for all You are, for all You've done and for who we are. Take all the praise, take all the glory.

One thing I have deduced from the above scripture is that before God gives a command, He has already made provisions for the execution of that command. I think we've said something similar before.
Anyway, back to the subject matter. The Egyptians could have easily lashed out on the Hebrews out of anger or ignored them out of hatred and fear, but no God already had a plan, so He sent favor ahead of them. May God give favor in every area of our lives especially in the actualization of His will.
