It's an eye service. Most roads constructed by this administration are substandard roads. The governor doesn't inspect and wine bear contractors handle the projects.

Following a viral video online, which exposed the poorly executed road project, we undertook an inspection of the project and affirmed that it is substandard. The project falls short of the standard that we have maintained in execution of road projects across Edo State.

You call that road substandard? "Substandard" is too much of a word to use for that nonsense of a work.

It can only be compared to the little "sand castles" and tiny "beach houses" that we built as kids during playtime. Those castles are fit only for amusement and with a lifespan of just few hours before the waters from the beaches wash it away or the breeze from the air blows it away in the case of the sand castles.

That exactly is what that drainage and road project in Àkókó - Edo is.

Yes I saw the video and that is in some remote village.. if you stay in Benin you would see roads he has constructed and the ones he is still constructing.. the man is trying I won't lie you . There are lots of things he has done that you didn't even know.. for example all government offices are off NEPA grid and on 24hours power. He has tiled a lot of adjourning roads in the Benin metropolis.

The whistle blower, Architect Paul Lawani, blew his whistle about two issues. To that effect he made two videos simultaneously. The first one was about the quality of the ongoing constituency Lawani Road renovation project facilitated by Akoko-Edo Federa House Representative while the second video was about the appallingly and horribly delapidated state of Orere Primary School which is owned by Edo State government and just 200 meters away from the spot where he stood to make the first video. Then he uploaded both videos on social. While Lawani Street has been unmotorable for the past 5 years, Orere Primary School has in the past 8 years has been reduced from five blocks of six classrooms each to only one block of only three habitable classrooms according to the second video. Now, for the fact that the Akoko-Edo Federal House Representative who facilitated the Lawani Street project is a close political ally of Oshiomhole, Obaseki sent his deputy to visit the Lawani Street project for a purported inspection and assessment and the announcement of a state government take over in order to score cheap political points and divert attention away from the raging question of his 8 month old inability to form a cabinet. Onlookers at the scene were expecting Philip Shuaibu to afterwards proceed to Orere Primary School for inspection as well followed by an on-the-spot announcement of government commencement of renovation by the state government. But Philip Shuaibu left for Benin straight from Lawani Street.
Seeing that his good Intention behind making those videos have been hijacked for political capital by the Edo State government, Paul Lawani has since returned to Orere Primary and remade the second video in which he carpeted Obaseki and Philip Shuaibu for harvesting political capital from his video. In a related development, tongues are now wagging about the numerous failed portions of Igarra Technical Road which is adjacent Lawani Street and constructed by Obaseki in 2019.
