Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has said for the country to attain economic growth and development, the dominant principle when appointing people into public offices should not be federal character.

He stated this amid grievances in some quarters over the lopsided appointment of persons into national offices by the current regime led by the President, Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

Osinbajo spoke at a webinar on Saturday organised by the Nigeria Leadership Initiative, led by a former Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Olusegun Aganga.

Also, The special guest of honour at the event, Gen Yakubu Gowon (retd), said history was replete with the stories of societies and nations that succeeded under shared common values, and those that floundered due to the lack of those values.

Gowon also called for the reintroduction of history to schools, adding, “the National Youth Service Corps scheme should also be reengineered as originally envisaged to serve as a programme during which value-based leadership principles are discussed and encouraged.”

The event – which was co-moderated by a public administrator, Prof Tunji Olaopa, and media consultant, Mrs Eugenia Abu – featured panellists, including the Senate Speaker, Dr Ahmad Lawan; Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Mrs Ibukun Awosika; Chairman of Channels Media Group, Dr John Momoh; and Rhodes Professor in Race Relations at Oxford University, Wale Adebanwi.

shocked

No, it can't happen.

I am calling on our darling daddy not to heed to this, so that the Biafra children will not know much about the evil our darling soldiers committed against the igbos lead by this very Gowon

Instead our darling daddy Should introduce a new subject to the school called "COWLOGY" Let our children learn so much about our beloved cows in the country and why we should give our cows a better life than what we should give to our children.

Or better still let our darling daddy sees that banditry is taught in all the schools ,so that our children will have unquenchable love for bandits as our darling daddy love them with his life.

So in essence Osinbajo is saying that Buhari is right to have appointed northerners; and that the northerners who were appointed are the most qualified and deserving of the positions they were given?

Again, that if for instance Peter Obi succeeds Buhari, he’s free to appoint only those from Anambra into every available position as long as it is proven they are competent?

Zombies shey una dey see una Professor?

Very foolish idiot.

I think it's very important to reintroduce history into our curriculum in schools. It will help political awareness and involvement. We need youths with knowledge of governance.

That's not what we need at the moment.
Don't get too excited. They may want to alter the history and sell it to the gullible.
3% and 30% should teach people some lessons.

History was replete with the stories of societies and nations that succeeded under shared common values, and those that floundered due to the lack of those values.

There's no lie about this actually, even governance ie function of every tiers of government is should be taught at the basic level of education.
