Kemi Adeosun Was Not Forced To Resign – Official Says by TheRareGem1(f): 9:46am On Jul 13, 2021
Former Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun was not asked to resign by the Presidency, a top official close to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has said.

Another top National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) official confirmed that indeed an investigation was conducted and the report circulated in the Presidency and few other top offices in the Federal Government.

According to official sources, weeks after she was accused of using an allegedly forged NYSC exemption letter, Mrs Adeosun resigned of her own volition having had a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari where she communicated her decision. Adeosun, reportedly narrated the story to a few Government officials at the time.

The sources affirmed that the former chairman of the Board of African Export–Import Bank (AfreximBank) was not coerced, forced or asked to resign under any guise by anyone.

“It is not true that she was forced to resign. Or that it was when she was told of a report was what twisted her hands. Mr. Dele Ogun’s account on a recent ARISE TV show is quite misleading if it is read that anyone in the Presidency forced her to leave. What actually happened was that she tendered her resignation after meeting with President Buhari.”

The sources at the SGF said “the choice to resign was totally her decision, because she wanted a decent exit that preserved her reputation after being lured into the whole saga by otherwise trusted mentors who then later exposed the whole thing, although she never knew anything beforehand.”

Reacting to the claim by Dele Ogun, the brother of Mrs Adeosun that she was told that there was an investigation into the matter, the top NYSC official said that there was indeed an investigation to the matter.

“If there was no investigation, then why did NYSC issue a statement at the time that she indeed applied for an exemption certificate? It was because an investigation was carried out that we were able to ascertain this fact.

“I think her brother’s claim is misleading and even false because it was not up to the Vice President or his office to make the call. Since when has the Vice President of Nigeria or his office have the powers to ask ministers to resign?” The source quizzed.

After the investigation was done, a report was communicated to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation by NYSC. This report is not a secret, notable federal government officials are aware of this report.

“Her brother accused Premium Times of getting their facts wrong but he is also doing same thing. The facts of this matter are there for all to see and there is no need sugar coating the matter,” the official said.

It would be recalled that in June 2021, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo launched Mrs Adeosun’s charity organization, DashMe Store, an event by itself indicating that Mr. Ogun’s claims must be closely questioned.

Mr Ogun is just saying what's not, being a brother to the former minister doesn't mean you have full knowledge on how everything happened.

I believe Adeosun was not forced out of office, she only yielded to the outside noise requesting for her resignation. She resigned in a way of saving her built good image, at least she was guilty of the offense

Of a truth she resign on her own, no one force her to do so. They should stop putting blames on people's head of her resigning

She made a decision to resign which is honorable enough. Nigerians are insatiable.

She resigned when the reality of the grave crime she committed by presenting a forged NYSC exemption certificate dawned on her.

Left with little or no option, she opted for the honorable way out to save what was left of her reputation

In saner climes, she should be having her day in court over forgery. Why this is not happening should be the question on everybody's lips. Not how she resigned.

Mr Kemi Adeosun willingly resigned to safe herself from the masses pressure so nobody asked her to resign

She didn't have any options. With the sensitive position she occupied, even the government she served couldn't allow someone with questionable credentials sit atop where she would interact with world powers on a daily basis.

This is just a very simple stuff, aside her restoring her dignity, what happened was that, she was attending one of the economic meeting in the OVP, then the news of her NYSC certificate investigation broke to her, probably by one of the aides... Madam, they are investigating the ingenuity of your NYSC certificate but Ogun, due to her ignorance on the the happening thought OVP was the reason for what had happened, OVP only let made her aware of whats going on regarding her NYSC, shikena

Nobody expect the cursed government you represent to accept the truth.

Buhari's government only offers lies and errors and destruction

She resigned because she's a decent woman.

More than what I can say for you lots in government today.

I'm glad she resigned. She won't be named as being part of this murderous and clueless government.

Yeah because the APC boldly defended her with them even calling her forgery of NYSC certificate as not corruption? Can you beat this devilish and wicked people?

"Adeosun’s alleged certificate forgery not a corruption matter – Presidency."
https://m.guardian.ng/news/adeosuns-alleged-certificate-forgery-not-a-corruption-matter-presidency/

Even the efulefu Joe Igbokwe was trying frantically but with futile effort to sell a dummy to Nigerians of a Kemi Adeosun in NYSC uniform as having done service in the past.

To add to the issue of kemi adeosun, Do you know there are consequences in the NYSC laws if you forge it's certificate? But what happened to her? She merely resigned & left the country under the cover of the president. She was not charged as stated in the law. That is what we call double standard. If Buhari truly wants to fights corruption, let him fight it squarely.

No wonder the government is filled with chronic irredeemable liars, certificate forgers, terrorist cum terrorist apologists, irredeemable bigots, high profile corrupt criminals and hoardes of mummified zombies all masquerading as men of virtue.

[/s]Same government that has a Buhari with questionable WAEC attestation letter as certificate which the SC rule is not needed to contest election for the office of the president? Same govt wherein Adebayo Shittu-former communication minister didn't do NYSC yet was allowed to hang on as minister of the federal republic?

Same government where a Buhari nominee for ICC Court appointment has questionable competence problem? Same regime wherein a Buhari's nominee for WTO appointment paraded a fake London certificate that was recently debunked by the prestigious institution? Common tell us something else Mr.

You mind these idiots. They think everyone is a zombie. Kemi Adeosun must have threw in her letter of resignation to bring  to a temporary closure, the public outcry and the embarrassment that her possession of a fake National Youth Service Corps Exemption Certificate had generated since July when it was first reported.

Her letter of resignation in which she blames “trusted associates” for the mishap tried to explains her innocence, reads like the abstract of a future memoir in which she is likely to do her utmost best to ensure that her non-participation in the NYSC scheme does not become the defining marker of her public service career.

She was simply doing a damage control of telling us that she is a victim of many conspiracies, the breach of trust, and the mischief of a sensitive and heavily politicized Nigerian public, seeking to hurt a holier-than-thou government as it seeks a second term in office.

I have no doubts that kemi adeosun was eventually pushed. Since the matter hit the headlines, she had been studiously silent then. But her employers having sensed that the NYSC scandal may be used against President buhari during election season, must have advised that she tender her resignation letter. No political leader can willingly risk the cost of a serious collateral damage in an election year. It would not have been in President Buhari’s best interest to take the bullet for his own Minister.

It must also have been painful for President Buhari to let her go because of his entire collection of face-less, impactless & colourless Ministers, Kemi was one of the very few whose name and face many Nigerians could recognize, and who could be given some marks for effort and commitment.

Whether forced to resign or not

I heard her saying she has been vindicated but the fact remains that she forged a document and forgery is a criminal and jailable offence worldwide.
She is a criminal and the resignation was the best thing for her.

Buhari's penchant for certificate forgers, liars and criminals is out of this world.

Forced to resign and escorted out of the country by DSS to escape justice? This is selective justice because if it is me and you ehen, they would have skined us alive.

Selective justice is repugnant to natural justice. The woman ought to have been arrested, docked, convicted & punished accordingly. Ignorance is not an excuse before the law.

The most painful thing is the fact that same criminal claim she has been vindicated, making it look like the certificate forgery she was accused of was not a criminal offence.

She is shameless for ever saying she has been "vindicated".
Someone that should be in jail and be apologizing to Nigerians.

And all ds for something as useless as an NYSC certificate... when majority of the public office holders, the president included, do not even have a first school leaving certificate. It's a pity.
