The bible is not against display of wealth. Besides, expensive burials and other ceremonies present opportunities to circulate wealth by providing jobs, cash and food to those who don't have.

We should be fighting against corruption and illegitimate acquisition of wealth, not condemning legitimately wealthy people for the way they chose to spend their money.
