again, there are rules and regulations against racist practices in the west...you cant openly deny employment to a person based on their skin colors.... yes many do undercover, but certainly not openly....unless in countries with racist regime (Israel etc)

btw remember, Chinese hate Japanese before they hate blacks....and the reason dark people are looked down upon is due to social issues primarily (darker people are viewed as uneducated lower class people), thats why Chinese use umbrella during summer months in order to not get a darker tan from the sun.... why would you think they wear the below, if not because they look down tanned people?

What you call tribalism in Africa is called nationalism in Europe..

The only difference is that after the world wars, America helped the tribes of Europe to reach different agreements that led to the formation of different nations based on shared values and culture...
So the Italians have Italy, The Germans have Germany, The Spanish have Spain, The Danes have Denmark etc.
As a result, when they project their firebrand type of nationalism on the global stage from their different countries, we hail them as patriotic citizens of their countries...

But when say an Igbo man does same, he's called a tribalist! Yet igbos have over 50 million people while the Danes are less than 10 million! There's nothing wrong with defending your country's values and positions on issues. It becomes a problem when many nations are flagrantly mangled together, thereby creating violent frictions as different brands of nationalistic feelings erupt from the different units..

When you force many strong-minded, ethnically-conscious and proud nations into one country, what you get is tribalism. Conversely, when they freely form a country of their own, or are compatriots with like-minded nations....sharing similar values and aspirations, what you get is nationalism!

The process that led to the emergence of America is different from the process that led to the emergence of Nigeria and it's the different processes that formed the base upon which the quantity and the quality of nationalism that you see in this places can be measured! America is a country of immigrants with very well set out laws on how the country will function. Laws on the powers of the leaders and the led. Most of the original immigrants were actually running away from different draconian monarchies in Europe. Coming to America, they consciously decided from the early stages to form a country bound by laws. This helped them a lot to avoid the kind of mundane distractions that saddles fake states like Nigeria. Yet there are racial issues especially with the original aboriginal inhabitants of the place who were displaced and the blacks who were brought in as slaves. The simmering tensions arising from the anger within this two groups have led to national challenges too... But the subsisting system of rule of law upon which the country was founded helps to ameliorate the net effects.
It's different here. Nigeria is basically a funny conglomerate of different quarrelsome indegineous tribes, lumped together haphazardly by a maniacal colonialist.

There were no strong constitutional regulations for the cohabitation of these different cultures. No one respects any laws laid down at the time of the countrys formation, since Lugard consulted nobody but barrelled his way through violence. Institutional inhibitors against wayward leadership are almost non existent and the mismarsh of different ethnicities has only helped to accentuate an octane level of endemic frictions that has been cataclysmic most times.. These quarrels, these squabbles, these noisy aggregations of sectional interests within a suffocating union are mainly responsible for the comatose state of affairs in these countries. So when these different groups try to project their cultural preferences, it's not really a bad omen. That is what Nations do and these are nations within a multi-national state. Problem here is that there are no serious rules of engagement. This has made politics in Africas multiethnic states a survival of the fittest... If there were serious rules on sundry issues like the sharing of power and state resources, these debilitating confrontations won't be the hallmarks of political engagements in different African states..
