Supporters of Yoruba Nation have vowed not to relent in their campaign for self-determination, declaring they will present their case at the 76th UN General Assembly in September.

The Nation reports the umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, had endorsed the ongoing petition being pushed by the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS), which urged the Federal Government to conduct a referendum.

One of the leaders of Ilana Omo Odua, Prof. Wale Adeniran, in a zoom conversation organised by UK-based Heritage Multimedia TV on Tuesday evening monitored by The Nation, explained the UN General Assembly would be an opportunity to explain the Yoruba Nation agitation to world leaders.

Adeniran, a pioneer Commissioner of Education in Osun State, and former Director of Institute of African Studies at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife disclosed he would speak to Prof. Banji Akintoye with respect to participating in the session as parts of efforts to consolidate the ongoing struggle.

Checks by The Nation shows that the 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 76) will open on Tuesday, 14 September 2021 at New York, USA.

The first day of the high-level General Debate will be Tuesday, 21 September 2021 and session will end Thursday, 30 September 2021.

Adeniran said: “You’ve hit it right in front of the head, that’s a golden opportunity for us to present our case forcefully, before the entire world.

“So that one week, impress it on all Yoruba people all over the world to descend on New York, and the UN general assembly.

“I am going to point out to Prof. Akintoye that we would have to be part of the event in US.”

While giving an update of the Yourba Nation petition submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC), he said: “The ball is in our court to begin to push our case and continue to shout it.

“We’ve submitted our letter and it has been acknoweled, it is now left for us to embark on aggressive propaganda for the ICC to look into case, you know they are humans too.

“That we have filed a petition, is not sufficient, we have to keep making noise about it.”

Akintoye, who spoke at the virtual session, charged all supporters not give up on the struggle.

While he commended the efforts of media in supporting the struggle, he expressed dismay over those spreading false rumors and false reportage about Sunday Igboho.

Freedom is a process. Don't laugh at others when they are at one stage of freedom or another. When you decide to be free, you'll still pass that stage.
Yorubas mocked Igbos when the Igbos were still at this stage. Now they are here.

Where is even the whereabout of that yoruba guy in London that always threatening to wipe out igbos and the fulanis in yorubaland on social media? This is the right time his services will be required in this yoruba nation agitation but he has gone silent like a coward.

we mocked and will always mock you
Because that's what your supleme leada that you love so much did

He barely talked without slander against us

Kanu's mouth and rants did more harm than good to Biafra

ygowon:
Continue to remain in slavery because your neighbour insulted you. What a foolish reasoning.
In fact, I doubt if you are even a Yoruba. Your profile looks like the one created by Fulani literates that can write in English. Just to continue to incite problem between igbos and Yorubas. Fulani and their divide and conquer. grin
trash
Stay alone
Do your self determination alone
Are we no longer coward betrayers? undecided
I wonder what caused the sudden love for a "betraying two-faced ethnic group"? undecided
MrColdsweat:
This is the problem I have with Kanu. Professor akintoye has assembled the brightest minds to push for oduduwa republic. International lawyers, professors have collaborated to achieve this goal. Kanu wants to do it all by himself.

The way I'm seeing it, Yorubas might get independence before us because they are organized in their pursuit for freedom.
Nwachukwu06:
You can not have a refrendum without enjoying some level of autonomy as a region.
Federal government can not grant any session of the country refrendum because it's not how it's done world over.
Refrendum shall be an act of parliament of the region that wishes to secede from the Nigeria federation.
What the FG will do is either to recognize the outcome when conducted by the region themselves or challenges the outcome in the court of law.
So the south and middle belt must come together for restructuring the country back to regions, to achieve refrendum, because I don't think the national assembly can be able to amend the Constitution.

These are wise biafrans

This is the way to do things

If this country should divide, the Yorubas would do well because they have almost every thing a young nation would need to survive

I hope they follow thru with it

Parasitic northern oligarchy won’t like this at all.

They will do everything to maintain ONE Nigeria.

Even if you’re not patriotic just fake the unity , Nigeria must be ONE.

Now tell me how can a country like Nigeria know peace or progress ?

Fulani don hold igbo and yoruba for blokus..

Ohanaeze begging for Kanu

Afenifere too will beg for Igboho

Take it or leave, Fulani own this country

The entire south and middle belt must urgently unite to push back and fight this Fulani caliphate that is waging war to conquer the south and middle belt. If the south fail to unite with a common front, their land and freedom will be forever lost, and their generations yet unborn will partake in the slavery and suffering.

Nigerian unity is negotiable

If the Yorubas will stop badmouthing Igbos and work with them, this referendum will be easier

We need to choose if we are to remain as Nigeria or not

We are tired of one politician pushing down unity down our throats after he or she must have been bribed by the unity buggers or to protect his political ambition

You arrest people who are agitating for referendum and call them terrorists yet the bandits and herdsmen walk about freely. What is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

Tribalism is our major problem in Nigeria. Let's call a spade a spade and not a big spoon....
