Nothing dey the economy,it don collapse already
TheRareGem1:
Osinbajo has been saving Nigeria in all spheres including in the APC; proffering solutions and solving problems
If not for ESP, there won't be nothing left with the economy; Would have collapsed, this is the time to ban cryptocurrency, Nigerian economy needs boost so therefore, this is an opportunity and I know what thing the CBN is always after is "safety" while pursuing the mission targeted, not a bad idea anyways, it is time to embrace this means for the sake of our unbalanced economy.

The biggest mistake Nigerians would make is putting their finances in the hands of this fulani government via this digital currency....... imagine the unlimited powers it would give the government, the data, spending patterns and ability to easily seize your funds.....this is the wet dream of any dictator and am utterly disappointed that osinbanjo came up with this crazy idea. This shit must not see the light of the day.

Is it the useless unfortunate crooks that couldn't manage the naira economy and turned N500 to $1 exchange that Nigerians want to believe can manage digital currency? I pity una. By the time Nigeria government thieves sell coins to you, una own go be CRYptocurrency, because it will end in premium tears. Government yahoo yahoo. Fucking thieves. It's not about people not buying it but the government not forcing it down on us, if the Nigerian government decides to make it a legal tender there's really nothing anyone can do, china is doing a similar thing with the renminbi and there's a reason why Zuckerberg's own was shut down in the US. The best option is to ensure that our law makers sees that this stuff doesn't see the light of the day.

You're valid
People don't understand that there's always a big rift btw crypto and the irs ( in Nigeria through the cbn) the goal of the irs is to shut down crypto, for the past years crypto has been rendering cash from irs invaluable.

For the irs to stay relevant they have to bring down crypto buy creating a coin and making the market miserable by manipulating it.

They should let Osinbajo run Nigeria , Abeg.
He has a progressive mentality, unlike the cow-head of a president presently ruling us.
I swear Buhari just sit down on top Nigeria's progress, how can a president be the enemy of progress.

Something similar like this is being tried out in China and don't forget the Chinese belt and road initiative in africa.

Even if you're too lazy to read or research watch this video for a better understanding of what china is doing with the digital currency.

If the same algorithm in general crypto is adopted fully for this, i fear we might be trading this digital money with fiat money in the nearest future.

They should first of all lift the ban on other crypto assets and Twitter before dreaming to own crypto.

The CBN should also know that the real boost to digital assets are not the investment from a single country's patronage but the global market.

Bitcoin is American but their biggest market is China, India and Nigeria. China recently lunch a state owned crypto but I doubt if 10% of Nigerian crypto investors knows the name.

The CBN creating our own crypto currency while placing a ban on the rest is outrageous and ignoramus the project is dead on arrival.

Now let me ask you, is it reasonable to buy an irs coin??

You're talking in the context of bitcoin. Am talking in the context of a central bank backed digital currency created via blockchain tech but obviously not with the freedoms and anonymity that comes with traditional coins. It's not a question of whether it's reasonable to buy central bank coin but a question of if the government would make it a legal tender.

There's a difference between typical crypto currency like bitcoin and government backed digital currencies.

If Osinbajo were president in lieu of Mr.Lifeless some of the major challenges we are having today wouldn't have existed. He has proved this on many occasions most especially his dexterity and brinkmanship in resolving Niger Delta crisis in the early years of this administration when Mr. Lifeless was on foreign medical trip for almost three months.

My bad I've been quoting you out of context.
But making it a legal tender doesn't prohibit one to acquire other coin, does it?

It's quite hilarious that some people are even praising osinbanjo for this initiative without really even trying to understand some of the consequences. If this is successful and let's say it's adopted by 30% of nigeria's population that would be financial data and spending patterns of over 60 million negros worth billions of $$$ and this is just on the data side.
