De Jong has never been the best performing midfielder all his years at Barca.

It's only this season I'm FINALLY seeing his potential. Yet, he's not better than Pedri or to a lesser extent Gavi at the moment. He's finally finding his rhythm and making positive statements.
He's better than Kessie and Busi currently for that defensive and control pivot role. Kessie seems to offer something more in forward asides the need for him to learn how to keep his arms down.
