In the Republic of Haiti (French Caribbean) there's a National Religio-cultural festival celebrated annually known as IBO LOA

This is in honor of the Igbos; who mostly inhabited that country during the slave trade era and for their role in Haiti's Independence in 1804.

There's a popular saying in Haiti; "Nous se Ibo", when translated from French means "We are Igbos".

There's also a major street in the Capital (Route Ibo lélé), a popular Ibo dance known as dansé Ibo. And there exist a Radio station: Radio Ibo 98.5 Fm.

They also have a National folklore song honoring them; Ibo grandmoun (Igbos are their own authority).

During the Nigeria-Biafra War,(1967-1970) Haiti was the first country to recognize the Republic of Biafra as an Independent country, thru a highly publicized Presidential letter.
