The National Cadet Corps of Nigeria was established in 2013 in Ogun State by Youth development Proponent and Schemer Cdt Col. Joshua G. Fatoye.

The National Cadet Corps of Nigeria is affiliated with other National Cadet Corps Organizations in other Commonwealth countries around the world and is affiliated with the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ministry for Youth and Sports and Ministry of Education.

Cadet Corps History in Nigeria dates back to 1960s in tertiary Institutions and colleges which was named NACC Nigeria Army Cadet Corps and later renamed Institutions Cadet Corps of Nigeria ICCON which can only operates in schools.

After series of research and consultations. With the aim and vision of not limiting Cadet Corps training to tertiary institutions and colleges alone and with the goal of allowing the Cadet Corps to participate in community activities and attaining a more standard level of a Youth Uniform Organization as it is the standard of Cadet Corps in other Commonwealth countries, The National Cadet Corps Nigeria which is community and institutions based was established on 1st of August, 2013 by Cdt. Joshua Gbolaranmi Fatoye. With its National headquarter currently at Abeokuta with Squadrons in each geographical area of the country and state commands at various states of the federation. The membership of the National Cadet Corps, Nigeria is opened to all youths both Male and Female on a voluntary basis.
