The U.S went there because of Bin Laden, they've successfully killed him, what else do you want from them? They should keep fighting a war which the Afghans are not willing to fight for themselves? They lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers, trillions of dollars, let the U.K do same if they think it is that easy.

Liked your post but in truth they lost just under 2500 soldiers over the course of 20 years. I am not saying it's nothing, cos every life is obviously important, but it's a far cry from the hundreds of thousands that you just pointed out

Donald Trump slammed the withdrawal at a rally in Alabama a few hours ago. He said that it made the withdrawal from Vietnam look like a masterstroke. He said that the withdrawal was the most humiliating defeat in US histroy.

some of you are foooolishly rejoicing over withdrawal of America from Afghanistan. If only you all know what that means for every nation in the world and for every sane mind.

TERRORISTS NOW HAVE HOLD OF A NATION - IT MEANS THEY CAN NOW HAVE FULL ACCESS TO WEAPONS THAT OTHERWISE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE.

IT MEANS TERRORISTS ALLOVER THE WORLD CAN PURCHASE GOOD WEAPONS THRU AFGHANISTAN AND REEK HAVOC WHEREVER AND WHENEVER.

BOKOHARAM THE WORLD'S THIRD DEADLIEST TERROR GROUP ARE GRADUALLY INFILTRATING THE ARMY IN THE GUISE OF SURRENDER AND IT NEVER OCCUR TO ANY OF YOU THAT THEY HAVE A GOOD WORKABLE PLAN TO FIGHT FROM INSIDE THE ARMY - 'THE TROJAN STRATEGY'. DO YOU THINK ALL THESE THEIR PLAN IS TO CAPTURE THE NORTH THAT IS ALREADY IN THEIR STRONGHOLD? NAA!

It is for the coming war to totally conquer and capture the south come 2023. They will eliminate all strong headed southern soldiers and it will be an easy ride to obliterate the southern part. Really sad that no body is seeing that.

NOW WITH AFGHANISTAN DOWN, THE NEXT WILL BE LIBYA, THEN SUDAN, FOLLOWED BY GAMBIA, MALI, NIGER, EGYPT THEN NIGERIA ALL WITHIN A SPAN OF THREE FOUR YEARS.

Really sad!

Was this your position when Trump was president or it’s because Sleepy Joe is receiving heat?

After this August and the West fails to withdraw completely from Afghanistan... The kind of military deaths that will follow won't be funny.. Talibans of today ain't the ones they defeated 20yrs back.. They better leave that godforsaken country.

Blair has a point. Biden should have considered the cost of the bare minimum of troops present vs the benefits.

If no allied soldiers has died in 18 months and keeping troops there is at manageable cost, then I won’t have pulled out troops. I would have just considered it as an American outpost, just like they have in Germany, Japan, etc.

But in defence of Biden, moronic Trump started the negotiations with the Taliban and Biden simply honoured the agreement.

In a way, America needs to get out and let Afghanistan stand on its two feet. Like how does Blair defend an Afghan government that can’t put up a resistance, despite the amount of trillions of military aid and training it has had?

Also, the Afghan people who willingly open the gates for Taliban, how do u explain that as well?

My only concern is if Taliban allow foreign Jihadist like Isis and Al Qaeda in, then it’s not worth pulling out.

I’m slightly optimistic because Taliban and western governments are talking. Also, Qatar is KEY. Qatar served as intermediary and western government can always use Qatar’s influence on Taliban to reign in on them. If in few months, Taliban don’t act crazy and somehow stabilise the country, then Biden is a genius.

Do you think former President Tump would have been this embarrassing to the world?
Your guess is as good as mine.

Trump was a worse embarrassment to the world. The world laughed at president Trump on many occasions. The withdrawal of US troops from Syria was as bad, so much so that Erdogan was on top of the kurds a couple of weeks after US withdrawal.

Besides the decision to withdraw all US troops was made by President Trump and had already withdrawn most US troops out of Afghanistan by the time President Biden took over.

The world misses the Presidents President.- J.T Trump

No where in the article was Biden mentioned or referenced in the article.

This is was Tony Blair said;

He said the decision was made "in obedience to an imbecilic slogan about ending 'the forever wars'".

We all know who made the slogan about ending 'the forever wars'

Tony "Dodgy Dosier" Blair is a disgraced politician. No one takes him seriously in the UK, even his own party labour where he has almost lost all his clout. Let him just focus on his paper chase (he is the richest ex pm in living memory) and stop trying to seek relevance.

This Afghan withdrawal was initiated by Donald Trump who did a deal with Taliban and ignored the Afghan government. Part of the deal was that 5000 captured Taliban fighters would be freed. Donald Trump's government put tremendous pressure on the Afghans to release these fighters and set a date for early this year for complete withdrawal. Joe Biden EXTENDED this date to August. Donald Trump's government cut the military in Afghanistan down. Eventually it was only about 3000 troops left in Afghanistan, and then it was further cut down this year again. Part of the deal with the Taliban was that they will not take over any regional city but they did exactly that as the NATO soldiers withdraw. Every one could see this happening weeks ago and nobody said anything, including Tony Blair.

Why are they all crying wolf now, looking for who to blame when they know EXACTLY what was going to happen?
