Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has tackled the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, accusing it of not giving the state its fair share of road rehabilitation in the country.


Abiodun stated this on Monday when he played host to Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, who was on a courtesy call with his team to the Oke-Mosan Governor’s office, Abeokuta.

According to Abiodun, the Federal Government should operate the principle of Federal Character on road rehabilitations, saying Ogun deserves special attention in terms of road rehabilitation.

He maintained that the Gateway State should be given better attention than it is currently getting from the Buhari government on its roads, especially because of its strategic location as the industrial capital of the nation.

He stressed that the Federal Government should not forget that many federal roads in Ogun are in deplorable conditions.


“We are not getting a fair share of road rehabilitation in this state. There is a video being circulated on social media showing the bad condition of roads in Ado-Odo/Ota right now. Ado-Odo/Ota harbours the biggest industries in this country, but regrettably, 90 per cent of the federal roads here are in bad shape.

“The Federal Government has so much to do, but Ogun state needs federal attention on road rehabilitation.

“We deserve a better share of federal attention. I have asked the federal government to give Ogun State roads special attention because a lot of its roads are in this state,” the governor said.

The governor mentioned that his government had decided to reconstruct the Ijebu-Ode-Epe road to ease the suffering of commuters in the axis with toll gates.

Abiodun pointed out the importance of a good road network in the socio-economic development of any nation.


He noted that infrastructure remained one of the factors other sectors depend on to operate effectively.

In her words, the FCC Chairman, disclosed that the commission has gone far in implementing its mandates by ensuring equal distribution of social services and economic opportunities for all Nigerians, noting that Ogun with its landmark and economic potentials has received its fair share in terms of appointments.

How? Is he the works minister who proposes project to be carried out? Obj who was a president for 8 years, didn't do road of his state, GEJ didn't do road of his place it was PMB that did it. So what are you really saying here
