Still, in the mood of celebrating Kogi @30, the Founder of Tazan Foundation and the Director of Foreign Affairs and Integration, United Arab Emirate of National Youths Council of Nigeria, NYCN in Diaspora, Tazan Saahibfatiu Onimisia has distributed mosquito nets in a bid to help eradicate malaria in the state.

Speaking to newsmen at Gadumo, Lokoja where sets of mosquito nets were distributed to habitants of the community, Tazan stressed that the efforts were to complement governments efforts through the ministry of health in the fight against malaria.

According to him, insecticides treated nets have become a core intervention for malaria control and have contributed greatly to the decline in disease incidence and malaria-related deaths.


Tazan stressed that according to World Health Organization WHO, statistics, malaria still kills a child every two minutes, adding that no child should die because they could not access life-saving services to prevent, detect and treat the disease.

He added that “Malaria has become a major public health problem, especially to those living at the grassroots and remote areas in the urban cities”.

Tazan further advised citizens of the state and those in Gadumo community to complement government efforts and those helping out in their little way by using the mosquito nets, ensure a clean environment to prevent mosquitoes from breeding, and desist from self-medication.



The distribution and sensitization he added will continue across various locals in the state capital and local government areas while lauding the state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello for his giant stride in the health sector.

In the words of one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Ademu Ape expressed joy over the show of concern from the Foundation, adding that he has never been exposed to mosquito net usage, adding that most of the community dwellers of Gadumo are most times handicap due to porous nature of their environment.

Another beneficiary with the name Ayo Adewunmi while thanking the foundation for the care, noted that the only sure way of reducing the burden of malaria for now was using the insecticide-treated mosquito net.

Commendable but the people need better just those nets... Take a peek at their environment, even their personal development is dipping.
