The FIRS has been collecting tax from state yet we don't know what the money is used for, let state collect it tax and use it to build their Warren economy...
The north will surely disagree when they have nothing to offer except terrorist

It's a good development... states would take security and tourism very serious which bring about infrastructure and business attractions.

On the second hand, you cant have only one functioning seaport and then a state tries to monopolize its VAT.
What stops the government from developing other sea ports?.. We have Warri, Onne, etc...

They purposely refused to develop other region ports out of spite. This VAT collection by states dey sweet me I swear. E go reset every one brain grin

VAT should be a federal thing and not state, it's cheating and I won't support it..
Lagos and rivers state was not built in a day, it was not developed by Lagos nor River state govt, it was not built by Lagos or Rivers people either..
Trillions of Nigerian's money was spent on infrastructure, road and bridges oo..
And moreover it's a one Nigeria thing, so everything should be equal cos we are all in it together.. one Nigeria one love lolz grin grin grin

This is facts!!!
SmartPolician:

The only thing wrong with the union is that the states in the north are not willing to look inwards and tap into their strength for the improvement of the lives of its people. They want to keep reaping where they didn't sow.

To the news , this is a test of resource control and true federalism. Technically, Rivers State has kicked off the process without waiting for the divisive federal government. I think another state should challenge federal policing, while another drags the FG to court to challenge why it collects the proceeds from resources in its domain.

Perhaps if this FG is reluctant to do the needful, states will apply legal means to get it to restructure the country. This is the best way to get an irresponsible government to do what it is supposed to do, not calling for secession.

Also, if a governor cannot generate revenue for his state, he should step aside. Governance should be about competition and it should be left for smart people who have outside-the-box thinking dexterity, not for nonentities who want to lazy about and loot scarce resources.

Very good. Everyone should develop their own local economy and encourage investors. Next is mineral resources. One state can not be producing and they will share the money to unproductive states.

Even company income tax should go to started and not FG. Because it is the states that are bearing the burden of the business.

Hisbah can’t be destroying alcohol and be sharing the VAT generated from it in the South.

I know the parasitic states in the northern Nigeria will likely fight this. How can you collect VAT on ogogoro and brothels somewhere in Ajegunle, Lagos and redistribute the same VAT to Hisbah controlled Kano where beers are being destroyed. What an hypocrisy?

This is how federalism should work. There are more obnoxious to fight by the federating States through Instrumentality of the judiciary if the judiciary will be impartial. Then it will dawn on all that powers at the centre won't be attractive as attention will be shifted to the states and local governments level.

They will fight it cos they know they have noting to contribute as the said VAT, and most of them won't agree to pay since the federal government have spoilt them with awoof since time immemorial, that is why they want funds generated in the south to keep feeding them. Mofos that are sucking Nigeria backwards.

Kaduna State is being smart over this VAT collection issue, they said they believe in true federalism (which means they're already in support of the court's judgement) and at same time they are studying the Fed. High Court judgement in Rivers State.

A very terrible and greedy move by wike. Trying to take advantage of the ethnic and religious tension to line his pocket. Vat and income tax should be in the exclusive preserve of the federal government but folks won't see it because of the current atmosphere of hate. Welp that's what the average Nigerian politician does, stir up ethnocentric and religious tensions in order to profit from it

Why should the rich man in your village share all his wealth with all his villagers leaving him with little to feed his own children.
Yorubas must exist this fraudulent union,if the country will not go back ro regional govt.

until we start to dey deny every state their monthly allocation .... I mean on earth no human that want something good to come out from his kid and still give them upkeeping money at the age of fifty years ..... let all state look into their comparative advantage and invest massively on such to generate funds mainly for the state ... imagine a litter of cow milk is 350 naira ... but we are,not ready for that discussion .... by the time every state only depend on what they generate then Nigeria as a country will know where we are goin

In fact as for Restructuring APC SW is even the one teaching FG Restructuring with their Governor's union meetings and demand of recent which SS/SE PDP usually chicken out or lay low on.

Nigeria will suceed,if the country goes back to 10 regional govt, each region will control its resources, military,Parliament etc
The regions should be
1.Yoruba region
2.Hausa/Fulani region
3.Ibo region
4.Edo/Urhobo region
5.Upper middle belt region
6.Kanuri region
7.Ijaw Region
8.Efik/Ibibio region
9.Lower middle belt region
10 Central middle belt region

Then they should do it. Because as long as they refused to do the right thing, people will always demand to leave. And one day na one day, it will cast more than this. Look at Nigeria na. It is such a shameless entity.

I was watching our national team play the other day, look at our national TV coverage and pitch. Look at that of other countries like South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, etc.
