GEJ time .... 2013 ... you paid N850K. 2013 ... average exchange rate N160 to USD1. Cost of your car ... USD 5000. 2021 ... car for sale ... N1.9M. Exchange rate N500 to USD 1. Price of car... ........USD 3 800. Where is the madness? Here's one in similar for sale.... abroad... how much should he ask for?.... after paying for shipping,? customs ... ?

2013 Dollar was 160 years
This is 2021 and dollar is 500

If that car was 1m in 2013 you expect it to automatically jump to 2m cos dollar exchange high?

We are talking about old school car here,
Who is buying that trash again to make it valuable in the market?

Camry Big Daddy is 1.8-2m bro

Nigerian businessmen are taking advantage of incessant naira devaluation to increase the prices of their old stocks that they didn't buy at the current exchange rate.
When FG increases fuel price.Petrol filling stations will halt sales of petroleum that they bought at the old price. After few days they will start selling at the current price increase or at black market. The same goes for car dealers. They will be selling cars they imported before the old exchange rate at the current increases in dollars.
That is dishonesty.

If you are a car dealer, you will do the same thing. I met a car dealer who sold a car and made profit. He had to add 200k plus to the money he made selling the initial one to be able to buy another. Isn't he running at a loss. If you don't adjust to the current economy, you will be out of business. Its simple economics.

I swear yo God i I don't care if the original cost of moving it to Nigeria ks 2m. I can't pay more than 700k on this car.

I go rather dey ride bicycle. 2001 car!!

Your opinion and that alone does not count as everything has to do with the exchange rate. You need to be in touch with the reality on ground. There are lot of things involved in importing a car from US to Nigeria. Clearing for underage car is between 480 to 500K alone

Not to mention shipping from US to Nigeria.

Shipping for Texas is 1130 while from other state is $1030

You need someone to drive the car to port; they mostly collect between $200 to $500 depending on your negotiation power

Another cost is the cost given to the person that you used his or her account to purchase the car. They collect between $150 to $200

There are some instance that you will purchase cars on auction as buy and drive and at the end of the day, when you go for pick up, the car might be having issues or may not even start and you need to send further fees to them

When cars are purchased from auction take for instance at $1350, coparts will add additional fees to it like $450 to $500

When the cars reach port again after paying for clearing, the agent might tell you that the battery is not starting or the oil is short, they may even remove stuff from the car that you will need to replace etc.

Ask from someone who is in the business and see if my stated assertion are either true or false

Damn No

Before you say NO let me help you out

Buying $1300 auction fees 250 total $1550
Towing to port $250 Ocean Freight $1100 Total $1350

Final Total to Lagos $2900 Convert to Naira @ 530 = N1537000
add clearing N450000
Buying for N1.9M is bargain Don't ask me how I know this just trust me

You can't get tokunbo of this car at 1.3m now considering the current exchange rate. Even during Jonathan's tenure, this car sells between 1.250 and 1.3.
If 2003 Big daddy could be sold at 2.1m presently, it means 2001 camry will be between 1.6- 1.7m.

2003 big daddy toks is 2.4 as of today. Maybe 2.350 with abeg.

Yes it can go for 1.9m.. Remember Dollar is now N549/$
Kai, just few weeks ago I called aboki to change loose naira I had to $10k and put in my dom acct. He said ₦500 to $1. I said it was to high and will drop.
Imagine that my 5m can no longer buy $10k but only $9050!
Nov 2019 I bought ₦350 to 1$!
This abokii government with their useless policies has impoverished Nigerians. Yet some ass wipes will still praise these regime on this forum showing is useless rubbish infrastructure as achievement. Is it Untill Nigerians start trecking on bridge and road or eating grass?

Theres no amount of preaching that will make one settle for l3sser profit.
It's all to blame on the dollar.
It's going to get worse.
Imagine if they sold @1.1 as of old, someone will come buy all their quantities and go sell @1.8/1.9 somewhere else.

I am not disputing you one bit. All these process you listed are true for newer cars. If I don't have enough money to get newer ones, I am will be amiss to buy 2001 car for 1.9m. Are u kidding me? If dem like make cost of bringing it here reach 5m.
