Following the failed Niger coup and the assasination of Idris Deby; I was suprised that President Buhari tolerated the madness in Mali. President Buhari and ECOWAS allowed Col. Asimi Goita get away with two successive coups, in utter disrespect for Ecowas. That was a mistake. I have always said it that wisdom doesn't come with age. I personally would not tolerate that.

Now, the message was clear that Coup plotters can get away with coups. And now the Guinea coup has happened. President Buhari and ECOWAS ought to have dealt with Col. Goita. If they had done that, this Colonel in Guinea would think twice before plotting a coup. One ultimatum to Col. Goita would have sufficed to restore the legitimate govt but here was Buhari travelling upandan.

Military action must always be on the table for Ecowas. Not long term interventions but quick response, intelligence led, delta force action. There are 15 countries in Ecowas to donate troops. Even if Nigeria's military is busy, there are 15 presidents in Ecowas who can pull up 1 battalion each to conduct Short quick & decisive action. Just one battalion on standby and deployed would have sent Col. Goita peeing in his pants. But here we are with President Buhari. A dumbo president. I trust Gen. Abacha; ask Charles Taylor.
