So the FIRS knows that VAT is not yet on the exclusive list and yet they want to challenge WIKE in court grin

So are they going to write a letter to the court of appeals to wait on pronouncing a verdict on the matter so the National Assembly can add it to the exclusive list grin

Quota system has really destroyed this country

The Rivers State lawyer should get a copy of this letter to show the court of appeal that VAT is not on the exclusive list and it is now the FIRS are seeking for it to be added.

After this, the next battle for the south should be STATE POLICE and thankGod Osinbajo and the south west supports this STATE POLICE.

The south should relax, you see this “ ONE NIGERIA “ las las, na we go enjoy am pass grin

This Mallam, they can die because of Nigeria money. If Babatunde Fowler is still at FIRS, he can never do this. He can never be threatened because of VAT. This Mallam is just fighting for the continual exploitation of the South.

Mallam, Aboki, please, let States collect their VAT.

It was Obasanjo's Presidency that allowed States in the South to win Derivation and Onshore / Offshore dichotomy abolition battles.

Under this Aboki, the Southern Nigeria should be prepared to defend themselves. However, the Senators love dinners at Villa. The governors should be determined to fight it out.
Exactly why I never mentioned those in NASS, they are useless, still wondering how they passed the Finance ACT 2021 without challenging the vat distribution

That's not correct.
There are other taxes and levies accrued to the federation.

This is just VAT and Income tax.
So many other taxables still goes to the federal revenue service

But those are where most tax are generated.

Vat is generated daily, income tax monthly.
If your firs stop taking vat and income tax in states, na to close office be that and reduce work staff

Watch and see how the north will bribe every Congo Judas to ascent to this demand.

Igbos will betray the ND once again out of their greed and covetous nature of ND land and resource.

I can promise you that the SE will technically support the bill. I don't want to argue it but let's wait here and quote me later

It seems occasionally, whenever there is any Northern agenda Bill to be passed. They are lobbied for a Presidential Dinner at Villa. After that Dinner, the Bill would be passed.

It has happened severally.

I earlier on pointed out that accepting the VAT regime of Gov. Wike via the courts would be fought doggedly by the caterpillars and the cankerworms.

The present VAT system is programmed to accommodate indolence and unproductivity on the parts of almajiri states (North and South) who are used to collecting handouts from FAAC without any efforts at looking inwards month in month out, year in year out.

Now from nowhere Wike wants to upset the applecart.

The FG agreeing to the courts rulings would amount to committing both economic and political harakiri!

Dear Govs. Wike and Sanwo Olu : The battle has just begun!

The States are the legal custodian of VAT in US and other places. If FIRS reduces staff and States that bear the burden that generated the VAT have more money for infrastructure, is that not good? This is why they are against restructuring and secession.

You need 24 state house of Assembly to approve before the constitution can be changed or amended. So if the 19 northern states agree( which I doubt) you still need 6 states house of Assembly in the south to agree before the constitution can be changed.

I also noticed it too... How are you going to challenge someone in court when the constitution is already against you. Na wa o...

It means you've already lost even before the case started.

Some people just lack sense.

Talk is cheap, this is the time for Youths and everybody in the South States to start organizing and marching, pressuring each House of Rep and Senator from their region to reject this bill.

Otherwise just like the PIB, after some brown envelopes and Ghana must go bags exchanges hands, you will be shock how the South representatives will disappoint their people again….after all what did the Southern and Oil producing State voters do to their Representatives , after the PIB vote?…A Big Fat Nothing!

Arrant waste of time and gross abuse of Court process. It is grossly disrespectful to Court to have written to NASS on a matter already before the Court. Nigeria purports to be a Federation and should be run as a Federation.

Very disrespectful

Hmmm... and our reps and SINators are so indolent. They will still be sleeping while their less educated counterparts from the 'parasitic states' will have their way.

Northerners are wise, just wait until FG summon all senators under APC, you will see how APC senators from the South will support FIRS and pass the dam VAT into "Exclusive list" and case will be permanently closed. Southern APC senators will play politics and remind us that Wike is PDP. Let's see how it plays out, thank you.

We should be moving towards weaker FG.

Each State should collect VAT within it's territory. There is no need for FG to be collecting VAT ,pool it into a central pool and redistribute to States to create unnecessary uniformity. This bring about cheating and unnecessary tension in jostling for the Central Government.

Rivers and Lagos States should also write the Federal Government and request for the refund of the Balance of all their VAT Payments dating back to May 1999 when the Civilians took over from the Military the refund will be enough to turn both States and Ogun with Delta into Luxembourg

Wow, thanks for explaining... This is even more interesting than I thought.

If that's the case then I think all 19 northern reps agree I think it'll also be easy for them get 5 saboteurs from a low IGR southern state to side them.

I just hope it doesn't play out in their favour.
