(C): Johnson Andrew, this is the Analyzed data based on population figures of each state. THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF PUBLIC SERVICE REFORMS, RELEASED STATISTICS OF EMPLOYMENTS INTO OUR PUBLIC SERVICE. THE RAW FIGURES PER STATE ARE (A). EMPLOYMENT INTO THE PUBLIC SERVICE NE with a population of 19.0m has 7,793 NW with a population of 35.8m has 8,806 SE with a population of 16.4m has 16,540 NC with a population of 20.3m has 17,661 SS with a population of 21.0m has 18,038 SW with a population of 27.6m has 19,620 To appreciate this figures, it is necessary to find out how many employees are taken from every 1 million people in each of the geographical zones. The result is: 1st. SE has 1,009 Employees per million 2nd. NC has 970 Employees per million 3rd. SS has 859 Employees per million 4th SW has 711 Employees per million 5th NE has 410 Employees per million 6th NW has 246 Employees per million Here we can see that South Eastern Zone has over 1000 people engaged in the public service of Nigeria in every 1 million Igbo people, whereas only 246 people are engaged in North West! Remember that this is the Zone of the President of Nigeria. Curiously South West, the Zone of the Vice President is the least in Southern Nigeria with the employment of 711 people in a million. It is pertinent to see the trend as regards Political Office holders. Probably, those that lost out in the Public Service, are compensated with Political offices. Let's perform sample surgical operation on the political employees. (B . POLITICAL APPOINTMENT We all have the statistics of political appointees of the current Buhari administration. NW has 51political appointees from 7 states NC has 47 political appointees from 6 states NE has 45 political appointees from 6 states SW has 45 political appointees from 6 states SS has 45 political appointees from 6 States SE has 41 political appointees from 5 states These translate to: 1st. SE: 2.50 appointees in a million. 2nd. NE: 2.37 appointees in a million. 3rd. NC: 2.34 appointees in a million. 4th. SS: 2.14 appointees in a million. 5th. SW:1.63 appointees in a million. 6th. NW:1.42 appointees in a million. Alternatively: 1st. SE: has 1 appointee in every 400,000 2nd. NE: has 1 appointee in every 422,000 3rd. NC: has 1 appointee in every 427,000 4th. SS: has 1 appointee in every 467,000 5th. SW: has 1 appointee in every 614,000 6th. NW: has 1 appointee in every 704,000 Once again topping the list of beneficiary is South East with one political appointee for every 400,000 people. As if it is an intentional act, NW, from where the President hails has the least of 1 political appointees for every 704, 000 people while the figure for Osinbajo's Zone is 614,000 and is the least in the South. THIS IS NOT MY DEFINITION OF "MARGINALIZATION" BEING PEDDLED BY THE IGBOS THAT ARE, IN FACT THE BIGGEST BENEFICIARY IN NIGERIA. FIGURES DON'T LIE. What makes me laugh is when i see some Yoruba crying for the Igbos when the latter talk about Marginalization. They should be crying for themselves. Bonesbreaker:A major problem the South has is how it underestimates the North. Their minders have led a majority of them to believe that the northerner is an unschooled slowpoke who only progresses through connections. Despite northerners that became billionaires by dint of hard work, intellectuals that have pushed the frontiers of scholarship, leaders that have provided impeccable administrations to great applause and politicians that rose like the colossus to dominate their environments, the average southerner still gets bamboozled – and envious – by the way the northerner dictates what goes where. But a pertinent question to ask is, why do people kick against federal character yet want a position zoned, rotated or surrendered to them? If they are as intelligent and educated as they think they are, then they should know that politics is all about bridge-building, consensus and give and take. However, in their confusion, despite their belief in the superiority of their intelligence, they take Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho as heroes. Some even believe they are comparable to Sheikh Gumi. A Methodist Bishop ridiculously said that he will stand by Kanu as long as “northerners stand by Pantami and Gumi”. A known southern columnist, too, wrote on how Kanu and Igboho were arrested while Gumi “had a slap on the wrist.” What they refuse to accept is the fact that Kanu is a terrorist in the class of Shekau. A fugitive from justice having jumped bail while standing trial in a court of competent jurisdiction. He instigated people to kill through electronic messages the way Shekau did. He calls for the Balkanisation of the country. Perhaps being a second-class British citizen, he sees Nigeria as a “zoo” and Nigerians as animals. His gullible followers, Nigerians through and through, accept being animals in a country that is a zoo. Maybe because most of his followers are those frustrated with their lives, they find solace in living in utopia. They claim they are Jews. Laughable as it was, with no historical or biological evidence to support the phantasmagoric claim, the real Jews did a DNA test to confirm their Jewishness that it is false. |

[quote author=Ibkhaleel001 post=105734064]THE SPAT OVER VAT: THE WRANGLING BETWEEN THIEVES AND CONFUSED VICTIMS No single person from the north has written anything of practical import concerning the VAT battle between Southern states and Northern states. All we have are discordant exclamations and mundane tirades of what is VAT and its history in Nigeria. What is to be done is entirely missing from the misdirected Northern narrative. It is clear that after systematically shifting all development and productive factors to the South, the North is at the mercy of the South. While the North has the majority in consumer population who are the final bearer of the burden of VAT, the South has taken over the manufacture and other VATable services like import and export. It is only natural for the South to insist on states to retain VAT money which in reality both the Southern and Northern consumers paid for. The Northern leaders are armed and confused and their reactionary pseudointellectuals have nothing rational for attenuation of the danger threatening to further deflate the Northern economy interest. Northern traders and their goods were burnt and chased out of the South withing reciprocal response from the North. Southern terrorist received trillions as amnesty, but Northern terrorists were denied a farthing. Northern herders are denied pasture in the South in the name of a new fangled policy of ban on open grazing, while Southern drug dealers, abductors of children, gun suppliers, substandard and over prized goods retailers are having a field day in the North. And now they want receive all the VAT revenue of which in reality is paid for by all citizens across the country, besides media and physical aggression in the bid to wrest political power permanently mindless of democratic norms. What shall we say about the frontline VAT issue? The South has masked the true nature of VAT and claimed its benefit to themselves. They highlight the collection centre, mainly the Southern states, and eclipse the source, the individual consumers all over the country. Under this dicey situation the North has two options and it must be ready to stand up to blackmail and threats by the South for whichever option they choose to go by. First, the North should either make VAT collectable at the sources of consumers based on state of origin or; The North should think outside of the box and change the battle field entirely. If the South insists on VAT being shared based on collection centres, the North can take an entirely a different course of action to neutralise the grasping effectiveness of the collection centres. Under the reality of Southern leaders( especially Obasanjo in his tenure) induced collapse of manufacturing industries and lack of ports to charge for import and export, the North should insist on turning their region into a global free trade zone that will enable them to contract trade, import and export, with every nation of the world without restrictions in the name of protecting Nigerian manufacturers and service providers. This will definitely free the North from the central government's imposed economic blockade that left the North with no option beyond buying substandard and counterfeited goods at hyperinflation prices. This will certainly jigger the South as the VAT theft is disturbing the North at present. To this, the North should target heavy taxes and levies over Southern goods and traders to economically rid its markets from the constriction of Southern economic marauding. International traders with genuine and affordable products, to be marketed and sold by Northerners themselves in partnership with the rest of the world, are to be invited. If the South adopts The Prince as their guide book, the North must seek refuge in the Art of War and Forty Eight Laws of power! However, I am aware these suggestions of courses of action may meet with impediments from within. The North is bereft of leaders with the moral muscle and political will to put through with anything the Southern leaders are not pleased with. Since the death of Sardauna, it has been one retreat after the other and the South has been capitalising on that. I am equally aware that the Northern leaders adopt their give and give attitude towards the South because they have been blackmailed. Like the Southern leaders, they have looted and stashed away billions; but unlike the Southern leaders, the Northern leaders are not in control of their booty. The banks and other financial institutions in which, and through which, leaders of both divides launder their scoop is in the total control of the Southerners. So, the fear of selective targetted exposure and personal loss renders the Northern leaders too fickle and diffident to put up a robust fight and win. Moreover, as weak and ineffectual as the Northern leaders are, they could have been forced to action were the other informed Northern classes, like the intellectuals and business class up to their mettle. But are the intellectuals dedicated and committed enough to force courage and action down the throats of their compromised Northern leaders? This timid and fawning class has lost all ingredients that makes intellectuals what they are. They are mere reactionaries without consciousness of the collective interest of their people. They lack aim and agenda to die for. They have reduced themselves to waiting for the South to set the agenda and react sentimentally in syrupy and weak voices meant, in reality, to be heard and remain relevant in the eyes of the illiterate majority. Their reaction to this present issue of VAT pay credence to what I said. Their weak reactions contain nothing more than what VAT means, history of VAT and how VAT is shared normally, in addition to empty grammar stamped with academic titles to impress their braying uninformed howling media followers. With this formidable impediments posed by the blackmailed and effeminate leaders and self serving grovelling quasi intellectuals, the prospect of North holding its own against Southern ruthless cold war in all sectors, is certainly slight and grim. Banking, telecommunication, export, and import, diplomacy, foreign outsourced business, power supply and other sectors, each with trillions of Naira turn ove, have already been taken over by the South. Governance and politics are now the last frontiers for the South to conquer. And we know, as recent and age old histories have confirmed,, after the final take over, which means discrimination and exclusion, explosion ensued: it is either the monopolizers or the dispossessed to launch the final solution which in either case the result will be unpalatable. Man is the victim of both his action and inaction.[/quote I know you can write an epistle on African history, but I just have a simple question::; which part of nigeria have the most working resources and which part takes the lion share |

First and foremost this is about the fundamental and moral question - does the Federal Government have the right to collect VAT . The courts have answered that question, FG does not. Taxes can be imposed as many times as required, as good and services move or exchange hands through one jurisdiction to another, there’s nothing wrong with that, fair market principles simply dictate the states where the goods originated will have the competitive advantage. VAT need not be uniform across the board, for example Cross River State may have 5% taxes imposed on all goods and services sold in the state but a 0% tax exemption on hotels fees to promote tourism in the state. A man from Kano State vacationing in Cross River will pay no taxes to the Cross River State Government when he settles his hotel bill. The point here is that the states should decide what works best for them not the FG. Its about time we wean ourselves of this feeding bottle federalism, this is a huge victory for every state as this means that states governments can now begin to the harness the power of taxation in their respective states. Every state in Nigeria is blessed If only they can be resourceful, for example every state in Nigeria can impose their own tax on petrol and diesel sold in the state, they have the moral right to do so because they are saddled with the responsibility of fixing the roads. 1 Like |

Having read the VAT thing...there is a big problem States charging VAT could lead to unilateral increases in VAT on a state by state basis Take alcohol. Suppose we get VAT charged on alcohol consumption per state...at the end of the day some states may feel they aren't getting enough VAT from alcohol...and increase VAT on alcohol consumed in their state...which could lead to, in the end , alcohol costing more in some states than others. |

Ibkhaleel001: I am gonna address your numerous comments in this reply. First off, you keep talking about the North, the North.... I hope you not including the middle belt in your definition because Benue, Kogi, Kwara, and Plateau are not the north. Even Adamawa and Taraba in the geopolitical NE is not north. The north is the rest of the NE and NW. Aboki territory. Also you talk about population of the north been far more than the south. lol. I laugh in Arabic. NE and NW even if you include Taraba and adamawa is still not as populated as the rest of the country. Even if you add the middle belt to the north, yes the population might be higher but it ain't by much. We all know that the NE and NW have inflated fake numbers that don't exist. Secondly, in economic terms the north has always been dependent on the south since almagamation. The British joined the northern and southern protectorate together because the north was in debt and backward so they needed the southern balance of payment to support the north. In the first and second republics, every region produced and contributed to the centre. The south was never dependent on the north. infact, the southern regions were always richer than the north. Today the north is like a parasite on the south and middlebelt. You guys always talk about the north feeding the country. First off the investment money the FG puts into agriculture in the north is gotten from southern resources like oil, manufacturing.. The south invests in your agriculture, you sell to us and we buy. You ain't doing us any favours. Whatever money northern states have to spent is mostly gotten from on the south. the FAAC allocation is mostly from southern oil and VAT. You are net gainers, we are net losers. Most northern states will not survive without handout from southern resources and VAT. Your states are built on resources generated in the south. Your GDPs is because of southern money. If Nigeria breaks, you become Niger republic. You boast about having the richest billionaires. A viable country is known by the strength of it's middle class , not it's billionaires. The middle class in this country is more than 85 percent Southerners me middlebelt to lesser extent. Even in the top richest list, there are more southern billionaires than northern billionaires. On government appointments, alot of the numbers you highlighted are statutory. Buharis appointment has been lobsided in favour of the NE and NW. Dude let's face it , Nigeria is kinda reflection to the wider world. You can't give what you don't have. There is no single Muslim country in the world that is. first world, technological me economic leader. The poorest countries in Africa re Muslim. The poorest regions in mixed countries are muslim. So it's no surprise you guys cannot compete hence you seek to bring the rest of the country down. You have succeeded because for most of this. country's history the north has ruled mostly through military dictatorship and have bled this country dry. Finally, I hear hausa people are the most populous tribe but yet the fulanis who aren't even as many as the ijaws keep ruling for the north and in a good number of the NW and NE states. It's either the hausa population figures is. fraud or the hausa re just dumb. 2 Likes |
