I have always wondered why the Itsekiris will ever think of rivaling the Urhobo people instead of befriending, as an archivist, I have read many ancient documents and I can confidently say that the Urhobo people were the Source of the Wealth of the Itsekiris in Ancient times.
Late Chief Nana Olomu, was described as the "Merchant Prince of the Niger Delta" by that eminent historian Prof. Obaro Ikime.
But what was the source of the Raw materials that made Nana stupendously rich?? It came from the Urhobo people and Territories.
Thus from 1500 to 1894, the Europeans
Actually came to look for Urhobo people to do business with not the Itsekiris, for it was obvious that the Itsekiris had nothing to which was of interest to them.
But they were afraid to venture into the interior of our shores because , they were afraid of that dreaded disease called Malaria.
Nobody knew then that Malaria was caused by the Female Anospheles mosquito.
The Science then was that Malaria was thought to be airborne.
Infact the word Malaria came from 2 latin words "Mal" meaning "abnormal" and "aria" meaning air.
So Malaria was thought to be an abnormal air. And West Africa was thought to be the origin of that air
So they anchored their Ships in the Sea coast and ask the coastal people ( Itsekiris )to bring the products for them.
So the Itsekiris collected Rents from them to anchor their ships which they called "Comey" , an equivalent of "Deve" which some of our people still collect today.
Now for you to go and sell your slave or Palm oil to the White man. You must also pay the Itsekiris chiefs your own "Comey" .
But the risk and the costs of going to sell your products as an Urhobo man was too much, so they simply sold these items to them for the onward further transmission to Europe
Thus they were Middlemen.
But when Sir Ronald Ross, discovered that it was Mosquito that caused Malaria and not abnormal air, the British decided to by pass the Itsekiris to go and trade directly with the Urhobos.
And Nana sensing that his enormous financial empire was about to crash, went to threaten and wage War on the Urhobo Communities who went to trade with the British Royal Niger company without his consent.
He raided and burnt down their Villages.
These victims reported him to the British.
The British quickly waged War on him and deposed him.
And in less than 60 years an Urhobo man Chief Michael IBRU became the Wealthiest man ever in the Niger Delta
Just imagine if we had contacted the Europeans as far back as 1500 like the Itsekiris??
It was even the Urhobos that fed the Itsekiris in ancient times. For they relied on us for Garri, starch, banga, Palm oil and bush meat. The only thing we relied on them was Salt. And that Bini also gave it to us hence we called it "Ughweri r'aka" Meaning potash from Benin.
Now when Colonialism came, Government became the new source of Wealth.
And an Itsekiri Chief Dore Numa, was the chosen one for the Intelligence help he gave them to help them defeat Nana
It was him who acted as Agents to lease Agbassa Urhobo lands .
Chief William Moore said it was the rents from the leases of these Agbassa lands that was used in rebuilding the 1st Olu Palace in Ode Itsekiri between 1932- 1936 after the 88 years of Interregnum.
These Agbassa lands later metamophosized into the Itsekiri communal land Trusts.
The monies realized from these leases were used to give many Itsekiri students Scholarships and providing Social amenities in Warri city.
Now following this kind of age long dependence on the Urhobo people, why should the Itsekiri man ever think of making an Urhobo man his enemy instead of his friend??
It is like the Fulani trying to make the Hausa man his enemy in NIGERIA . If he tries it, he will be finished. The Fulani man even had to abandon his own language Fufulde, to adopt the Hausa man's language as his official language.
Now if the Urhobo man renames his area Wado territory, and in later times gets a Wado LGA, then there will be a swing in the revenues of Warri South LGA, which the Itsekiris presently Control
You see how tensed the Itsekiris are simply because we proposed a change of name for our territories to give a new identity to ourselves?? It made them realize the emptiness of Warri city without us. But the quicker the better for us. Do you know what will happen if a separate Local Government is created for the Urhobos in Warri??
That will be the end of the Wealth of Many Itsekiris. The rents from Igbudu market, Okere market, Polokor market, All the industrial stores in McDermott, the Super and Electronic stores in Okumagba avenue, the restaurants, hotels, Supermarkets, Banks, Petty traders shops, Warri Garage, Motor parks Hospitals and clinics, Keke and Taxis, Tenement rates of residential houses, Sign post adverts are all in the Urhobo parts of the city (Wado land). So it is going to be a serious crisis to create that Local Government. Hence we can subtly start the Process by changing the names of our areas traditionally.

The House of rep should pass a bill to create a separate LGA. It will even be beneficial to the itskeris if they got their own sole LGA

Why the omonile miscreant says the Urhobos are tenants as if they were there wen their father sold land to the Urhobo communities. Of wish they forgot their Ancestral home at ode itsekeri. An island.
