I had a dislocation and a slight fracture according to the xray. It was on a Thursday 2012 it happened i could not move or walk my sis had to back me then on friday i noticed something moved i started walking but was still limping. Then some stupid neighbours convinced my dad to use traditional bone setters he came that same Friday did the ritual with no atom of sympathy then after that he mixed dry powdered pepper with one herb then put it inside the bandage for 7 days i could not walk funny enough i started feeling pain on my other leg.Truth be told they do more harm than good its only advisable when its only amputation thats the only solution
pls I sent you an email

I was step on a stone then the stone twisted and i fell. My leg was swollen for days then i went to igbobi they did xrays for me and saw that i have a fracture in my 5th toe. They call the fracture JONES fracture. Then the doctor put pop on my leg which i carried for 3 months and i was using crutches. So after the third month, the doctor instructed me to remove the pop after i have done another x_ray and said i should be using the leg to walk. One week later, the leg begin to swell up again whenever i walk with it. If i didn't walk, my leg will not swell up but if i walk it will rise up and that pain i fell before the cast will come back. Also my ankle that was not painful before is now painful. I can't even move my ankle too much. And the doctor said i should come Back after six weeks.
Please specialist in the house what could be the cause

Actually, the doctor did nothing wrong. The only process that determines whether a child can pass through the mother's hip or not is labour. I have seen people with apparently small hips on pelvimetry deliver with no issues and people with normal pelvimetry results almost go into obstructed labour.

Madam please how did you resolve your nin ID card issue after it debited you. We’re you able to get a reply from NIMC? How did you go about it please thanks

It was a crazy moment for me last year October. Had an accident while going to work and broke my left humerus . Visited 3 local bone setters in the space of 4 months with no improvement until my my sister took me to one general hospital in Ibadan have forgotten the name now . The doctor have to break the bone again (reduced ) and Was on pop for 8 weeks and my bone joined. Funny enough it wasn’t painful @all compared to the pain I went through in the hands of those local bone setters .....my advice go to the hospital and have an X tray done . This local people will only make things worst for you .

My younger brother's bone was badly fixed by traditional setters. We are planning getting him to General hospital to refix it. How much did the surgery cost you and how long did it take to get it completely healed?

As Physiotherapists, we understand the rich cultural tapestry of Nigeria, where traditional and religious practices often mix with modern healthcare. One such tradition is the culture of traditional bone setters in Nigeria, who are people well known in their communities who specialize in setting fractures, dislocations, mending broken bones, and physical rehabilitation through their time-honored methods.

Who is A Traditional Bone Setter?

Traditional bone setters in Nigeria are informally trained people within our local communities who have inherited and passed down the art of bone setting through generations. They employ a range of techniques, often involving massage, herbal remedies, and splints, to treat dislocations, fractures, mend broken bones, and offer some sort of rehabilitation afterwards. The cultural significance of traditional bone setting is undeniable, as a 2008 study stated that as many as 85% of patients with fractures in Nigeria, go first to bone setters.

How Traditional Bone Setters Work

These practitioners rely on traditional knowledge and experience to diagnose and treat fractures. Their methods often involve hands-on manipulation of the affected area, application of herbal concoctions, strong alcohol mixes for pain and the use of locally sourced materials for splints and support. While their approach is deeply ingrained in cultural practices, it is essential to consider the limitations and risks associated with traditional bone setting.

Are Bone Setters Safe?

While traditional bonesetters play a cultural and social role in local healthcare, their methods lack scientific precision. Limited understanding of anatomy, non-utilization of radiographic medical imaging (e.g x-rays) and infection control may lead to complications, and the use of untested materials may not provide adequate support for proper healing. In many cases, misalignments and improper healing can result in long-term and more expensive consequences.. continue reading a Physiotherapists perspective here

KosiGee:

You need an X-ray of your shoulder showing the whole of your clavicle with the joints, the whole of your scapulae and the upper part of arm(humerus) and it’s articulation with the glenoid of your scapula.
If you haven’t dislocated your shoulder, it could be rotator cuff injury…the muscles are Supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor and subscapularis. Your shoulder joint is very shallow and prone to injury especially if you perform such actions as use of heavy dumb bells.
You need X-ray
A radiologist will look at it and describe your injury in a report.
An orthopaedic doctor fixes your shoulder or any member of the orthopaedic team.
You visit a physiotherapist to help you recover.

X-ray first.
hello, if one dislocates his leg, where should he go to relocate it?

Last year I fell and had a fracture where I tore my tibia fibula not far from my ankle..
One calabar woman introduced the man to me, the man was coming every day for bone treatment..
Every day na hell crying infact people in my street came to chek what's was going on they tot someone died ni..
Two weeks of pains I could not stand it anymore I rushed my self to general hospital tomorrow gbagada...
The doctor first asked for scan after the result I was able to see how damaged my leg was and this calabar manwaa telling it was black blood that making my leg to swell up..
Behold pop was applied paracetamol and vitamin C.. the only drugs I used
After 4months my leg was back to normal its healed it self.. the woman that introduced me to d calabar bone setter still battling with her own leg up till now...
My advice go straight to the hospital get your leg scanned to knw the level of damage.
Let them pop your leg and wait for normally 12 weeks but was giving 2 weeks extra..
No pains no cry just the stress of using nylon to cover my leg in the bathroom..
That all
Traditional bone settle can damage your leg for life..

do the hospital doctors use anaesthetics when resetting the bones?

I remember when one bone doctor was trying to fix my bone, I cried so bitterly and didn't have strength to cry anymore. I begged her to wait so I could drink water and have more strength to cry. At a point I couldn't take it anymore and told her to cut off my leg. If you see as my leg swell up like new yam
I've had both tooth problem that led to extraction and fractured bone and can't decide which pain is worse. If labour pain is worse than these, then women are really trying
