Sometimes I don’t know the issue some of you have with Peter Obi?

Up there is a link to the experience of a Nairalander in Upper Iweka, Onitsha. It made front page some months back. That same exact thing has happened to me too. God knows it’s true.

I brought that back to give you a clue of what Upper Iweka still is in 2021. When you get that clue, you would imagine what it was like around 2009 when Peter Obi came in as governor.

WHY THIS PIECE?

This piece became necessary because it seems some opposition propagandists who don’t seem to have anything on Peter Obi( well until their Political Pandora Palaver) have always been bent on trying to pin the activities of SARS as led by James Nwafor during Obi’s reign on Peter Obi as the chief mastermind. Every effort to talk sense into these paid propagandists has consistently fallen on deaf ears.

But to better understand what we are talking about, a brief background of what used to happen in Onitsha is imperative.

BRIEF BACKGROUND OF UPPER IWEKA NOTORIETY

Sometimes around 2005/2006, the then governor of Anambra state, Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju, invited an illegal and notorious vigilante called the Bakassi Boys who came to Onitsha, especially Upper Iweka, and engaged in extrajudicial killings in a bid to restore some sanity to Upper Iweka in particular and Onitsha in general.

That’s how bad Upper Iweka was. The security agencies became helpless as the police joined in colluding with criminals who would always bring daily returns to them.

In the early 2000s, anyone traveling to and from the Southeast always dreaded Upper Iweka. If you cross Upper Iweka without being robbed, then your journey is successful already. Accidents were less dreaded.

So the Bakassi Boys came and tried to restore some order and reduce the criminals. But their efforts didn’t quite last a long time as the criminals immediately regrouped after the Bakassi Boys were disbanded.

Now, when Peter Obi became governor, one of the things he knew he had to tackle was security and Upper Iweka was a priority.

Not wanting to go the way of Chinwoke Mbadinuju by empowering illegal vigilantes to slaughter people, Peter Obi enlisted the services of the Special Anti Robbery Squad(SARS) to help clear Upper Iweka of various nefarious elements that has made that place their abode.

And just like what is happening in the fight against insecurity in the present day Nigeria where the govt is trying to apply both Kinetic and Non-Kinetic approach to the fight, the Obi govt extended olive branches to the criminals to surrender but most of them rebuffed it.

That was when James Nwafor and his boys got to work and started arresting some known leaders of gangs and their boys some of whom tried to be violent but were subdued by equal and proportional violence.

The intention was Lafiya Dole( Peace by Force) for those who thought they were beyond being brought to book.

Now why would anyone criticize Obi for the approaches he took towards restoring order to Upper Iweka? You talk about extrajudicial killings by SARS? Well, just like every Nigerian process, it was abused; just like Obi possibly didn’t expressly order anyone’s killing.

But if you criticize Obi for what he did in Onitsha, then you must criticize the FG for disconnecting Telecommunications Network in some parts of Zamfara, Sokoto and Katsina and ordering shoot at sight of notorious bandits who have refused every govt overtures at making them drop arms.

You must criticize the formation of Amotekun who sometimes shoot at sight, killer herdsmen in the southwest, without trials.

The truth is that if Nigeria is serious about unity, then it must enthrone equity and fairness. And if equity and fairness is to be enthroned, then 2023 is the turn of the southeast. And if 2023 is the turn of the Southeast, then Obi is one of the best out of the Southeast.

Propagandists should rest with their many propaganda campaigns against Obi.

We will open the Pandora box another time.

Let’s assume for instance that Peter Obi did other their shooting, are you saying therefore that the criminals are justified to have constituted themselves terrorists in Upper Iweka?

If you say they shouldn’t have been killed, does it by implication suggest that you are in support of amnesty for Boko Haram and Bandits? That they should be ‘rehabilitated’ and released back to the society?

This is extra judicial killing

And is not just crime against humanity, it's also a war crime.

If there is evidence Peter Obi gave an order for those guys to be killed, he can be charge for war crimes.

Those guys were unarmed, they were tied with ropes and shot... Dam!!

There is no excuse you can give to justify this nonsense.

They could have all been charged to court, with the Government making sure there court case is as slow as a snail, then give them each a long jail term which will be make possible through the Anambra Statetate House of Assembly that was under the full control of the state executive.

The house of assembly can pass a bill that will make sure people constituting nuisance to the society and can be proven their activities have lead to the loss of lives and properties, such person will spend the rest of their life in jail or such a person will be sentence to death.

So you are by extension saying Buhari is guilty of war crimes for ordering the shooting of Bandits?

Or do you know the circumstances of their arrest?

Or their guns should have been tied on their waists for you to know they were arrested with weapons?

Bandits who are fighting back will definitely be shot dead, those who lay down their weapons and surrender won't be killed.

Nigga please stop defending this madness.

No matter how they were arrested, there is no way they could have been tied with ropes if they didn't surrender.

No foolish explanation will be accepted for that crime against humanity.

There might even be innocent people among those that were killed.

While I am not a fan of Peter Obi, I believe only criminals and their supporters criticise his move to destroy criminal gangs and restore order in Anambra.
They would have preferred a state of anarchy where criminal rules.
It is madness to believe that any suspect who got killed in gun duel or arrested by the police is automatically innocent.

Peter Obi is not responsible it is Tinubu that his responsible. Peter Obi as never been responsible for anything all his life.

A sitting governor is not responsible for the execution order he gave. He is also no responsible for the billions found in his olosho d daughter account. Continue fooling your father over peanut he paid you.

If 1milllion boy attack or endsar happens in Lagos fools like this clown will claim the governor n Tinubu should be help responsible buy Peter Obi that order execution of over 50 Anambra indigene at Azu river is not responsible.
