If i hear say papa pay that money..
He may not pay.

They'll definitely appeal and if the case gets to Supreme court, they may not still pay him a dime.

Which police would dare to arrest bishop?

Nawa for people! So this man occupied a position for almost ten years and the uni still extended him a good gesture by making him a senior lecturer due to him being close to his retirement age yet he goes ahead to sue them.

What is the difference between this man and our recycled leaders hell bent on retaining power/position for eternity?

He may actually get paid the money but I highly doubt you can force the university to reinstate the man.

There’s something called court garnishee order. Once pronounced against an institution, company or government establishment, u don’t need the consent or authorization of whom it’s written against before u present it to a bank for the account to be debited. It’s an order from the court and must be honored.

Not if he has a contract tenuring him at a specific dept. Someone wanted to punish him for having the effontery to have a contrary opinion. Luckily, the man knew his rights.
shocked How do u know this? Abi u be witch? Its not in the OP’s story. According to the narrative, d school claimed he was 60yrs, i.e due for retirement, then on compassion he was redeployed, to which he CONSENTED. So it seems someone convinced him he can make more money suing the school than working as a lecturer.

I never knew someone could sue for his right in a private establishment especially in the case of retrenchment of job. However, this is an eye-opener for people like us who are in private companies. Why Winner's establishment is getting into issues these days is still eluding my imagination.

Why the Bishop will always respect himself and pay. He makes more that every Sunday, so he will never allow a case brew over 10M token

U obviously don’t know much about university staff terms of service . The retirement age for academic staff is 70 and 65 for non academic staff .

The man is not yet 65 as a non academic staff and can’t just be converted without his consent or summarily dismissed like he’s like those pastors that were claimed to be “unfruitful “ .

For your information , the organization is at doing him a favor by employing him ; rather it’s a mutual relationship in which he offers his services to help better the organization and they in turn remunerate him for those services

The order will only be written after the the appeal period elapse. Even If they appeal and lose u still don’t need their consent to debit their account.

My point basically is u don’t need anybody’s consent to cash out on a garnished account.

I think this is a case of someone who really knows his right and is willing to explore it. So redeployment in a workplace without consent is potentially illegal? Never knew.
But the report stated that he was invited and was informed that he will be redeployed to the new post and he consented to the new offer.

No that is not what the judge ruled!
The judge ruled that there before him was evidence of contract between the school and the plaintiff and stating his tenure of exit.
The school terminated his contract without his consent!
His transfer was a totally different matter

Read it again, its there. And Im sure he would have tendered the said letter in court too.

Compassion where? Lol. If it was retirement and he consented to redeployment, it would all have been documented, and the court would have ruled in favor of the school. This is a university, not a mom and pop shop. The retirement was an "explanation" made up to look less guilty in court. Thankfully, the judge looked at the mans contract, not dem say.

Hopefully there is some internal review within the university to fish out those who tried to bully this man, and why. They just cost the school N10m.

As quickly as possible. Only Buhari's government of tyrany disobeys court judgment. After God, na court. An ordinary civil servant got such judgment against Delta State, the State govt flouted it. He went back to court, and the judge placed a restriction order on all the state's accounts. Within 5 days dem pay am the money o.

That's a breach in the terms and conditions in which the two parties have agreed during his employment.
It is just like a contract of any sort, it is the same thing too. but the university can appeal if an offer was made between the two parties and if it meets the conditions of service.
