A Nigerian military base in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State has been reportedly attacked by armed persons suspected to be members of Boko Haram.

Residents told Channels Television that the terrorists drove into Katarko village in 10 gun trucks and attacked the military formation, where they engaged the security operatives at the base in a heavy shooting.

The residents were forced to run into the nearby bushes for safety but a military source said the troops repelled the attack.

This is the third time the community has been attacked by the suspected insurgents this year alone.

Katarko is located 20 kilometers South-East of Damaturu, the state capital and has witnessed frequent attacks by the insurgents.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force under Operation Hadin Kai has continued its onslaught on terrorist targets on islands and localities around the Lake Chad area.

The latest attacks were carried out earlier this week, following intelligence reports that about 20 boats were seen conveying between five and seven suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists to an island in the Lake Chad area and Malam Fatori, the headquarters of Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to the Air Force, the mission by the air component of Operation Hadin Kai confirmed the high concentration of terrorist and insurgent elements hibernating in the Lake Chad general area.

It noted that the air operations will be sustained until the area is rid of all terrorists and insurgents.

This is coming about two weeks after the military authorities confirmed the death of ISWAP’s leader.

ISWAP has not given any confirmation of al-Barnawi’s death and the army has claimed before to have killed jihadist commanders only for them to reappear.

More than two million people have been displaced by Nigeria’s conflict since it began in 2009, and the violence has spread over the borders to Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

Who is funding them? This is no longer just a police matter. Nigerians shouldn't be made helpless because of these terrorists. During apartheid in 1992, most South Africans had access to arms and ammunition they used in their defense. I think the fg should relax gun control laws. That way anyone that comes for rape and plunder will meet their waterloo. You can tighten it after.

If everyone is armed, i believe that even our police will be more careful about whom they maltreat.

Why is this report one sided? Why didn't they include the attackers were given a dilapidating blow as the attack failed. The media seems bias against the military efforts in fighting Insurgency and funny enough they are amongst the average in economic power, so if this country burns they would perish innit.

They are pictures and videos released for the failed attack, it's on a Battlefield discussion group on telegram. Whosoever is iinterested in joining the non toxic group should search for 'battlefieldgroup01' on google and join the Telegram group.

How won't they have this many guntrucks when Bulhari opened northern border very widely for all of them?

Some of the weapons and guntrucks, na Fulani soldiers aka repentant Bokoharam dey dash the "bandits".

How were the terr0rists able to hide ten guntrucks from soldiers? Unless ofcos they have large territories which the so-called soldiers don't even go near. Yet they claim they are fighting terrorists.

When it comes to the South, they'd start showing themselves. Us£less things

How can terrorists raise ten gun trucks without been detected? If it was in the east, both air and ground forces would be ones attacking the fighters in the bush.

The Nigerian Media will never give balanced reportage, they are doing a job for a fee. Agenda must Agenda.

I concur absolutely! Using Southern Kaduna as a case study. Imagine in a remote village, out of the total population and there're atleast 300 villagers who has access to real good guns. Fulani Herdsmen would think wise before invading.
