The Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ when he came to earth is one of the most significant personalities in the Bible. Mary Was Among The Disciple Of Jesus Who Spoke In Tongues On The Day Of Pentecost

One may think that as Mary was the mother of Jesus, she did not need to learn under Jesus and follow him as a disciple, that was not the case for Mary. She humbled herself and followed Jesus Christ in his ministry, learnt from him and was believed to be among the 120 disciples who were at the upper room waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit promised by Jesus.

She was among those that obeyed the last command of Jesus before he ascended to heaven which was that they should go and tarry at the upper room until the Holy Ghost comes.

According to the book of Acts 1: 12: 14

" The apostles were at the Mount of Olives when this happened, so they walked the half- mile back to Jerusalem. "

" Then they went to the upstairs room of the house where they were staying. Here is the list of those who were present: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (the Zealot), and Judas (son of James). "

" They all met together continually for prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. "

So we see that Mary was with the disciples in the upper room and she also brought her other children along with her (Jesus' siblings).

Note that the 12 disciples were not the only disciples that followed Jesus, the Bible talked about many other of his disciples who followed him. We see that in Luke 10: 1

" The Lord now chose seventy- two other disciples and sent them on ahead in pairs to all the towns and villages he planned to visit. "
