Zenithh: That's the point I make above. Yorubas do not need to claim anyone by force unlike the unloved Igbos. From Togo, to Benin and all the way to Brazil, Cuba etal, the Yoruba lineage and identity waxes strong because of the exemplary culture and dignified heritage of the ethnic group. Igbos have always failed in their effort to forcefully claim other. They are always rejected embarrassingly. They wish the same fate of rejection on the Yorubas and that is what is behind this silly thread. 12 Likes 1 Share |

The Yorubas in Kogi State that I have met all speak fluent Yoruba and identify strictly as Yorubas with Yoruba names. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Nooel1:Every single one of them told you? I don't care whatever they are. They can be igok for all i care. I just pointed out Kogi is the name of a State. It cannot be a tribe. They should go back home and ask the elders what tribes they are. The actual name. EG. Abuja has Bwaris Ogun has Ijebus Kogi has Nupe Plateau has Beroms 1 Like 1 Share |

The shallow brain of the average Igbo can never understand the Yoruba spirit. Even the people of Bahia in Brazil claim their Yoruba heritage, the Yooba people of republic of Benin claim their Yoruba heritage, the Ife people of Togo claim their Yoruba heritage so it is Yoruba people of Kogi that will now deny their Yoruba heritage? Keep fooling yourself Igbo man. 10 Likes |

leksite120: Not true. When you hear Yagba, you'll know you are not entirely being truthful. The language is very distinct. The only thing is their association with the Yorubas. They might be classified as a part of the yoroboid group but being considered as Yoruba? Nah. The Entire Okunland (Yagba West, Yagba East, Kabba-Bunnu, Ijumu) is very distinct 2 Likes |

Igbos (sorry AfghanEasterns) are pained because they have been soundly rejected all over. From Sunday Oliseh strongly stating that he is not Igbo to wicked Wike saying that no one should ever call him Igbo. Ikwerres and so many other tribes that Igbos claim have made several videos strongly denying the Igbo tag. Yet, their is not a single video of a Kwara or Kogi Yoruba denying their Yoruba heritage. Not a single one. This is why Igbos are desperate. This is why they are opening threads claiming to be from Yagba and saying 'Yagbas are not Yorubas.' One of them said I am Igalla and I am not Yoruba. The fool really thinks Igallas are part of Okun. This Igbo people are finished and I am happy to be here to see all of their sifia pians! 8 Likes 1 Share |

kollinzgee:There's nothing like Kogi dialect. Kogi is not a language, it's not a tribe but a geopolitical creation. You don't therefore speak Kogi. Mention the tribes you are referring to and in this case, it's Okun. Okun dialect 2 Likes |

JAMO84:Not all will fight you. Those that have been to SW might want to stop claiming Yoruba because the average yoruba from SW is tribalistic. They discriminate. I schooled in SW and after my experience, I hate being called Yoruba, call me Okun instead. Yoruba will laugh at your accent, call you Ebira or even call you aboki. The average Yoruba on the street do not know there are Okun people in Kogi. They have this superiority complex. I'm like, what benefits do I have from claiming Yoruba sef? Claiming a nort.her.ner has been more beneficial to me so why try to be distriminatory in a condescending manner? An average yoruba person would profile you to the last village and act superior even among themselves in the SW. Ogun might act superior to someone from Ondo, say Ilaje or Akoko person. Very stupid and annoying thing. I blame lack of education though |

JAMO84: Not necessarily sir. Although most Yorubas in Kogi are proud of their Yoruba identies but there are some groups that may wish to stand alone like some of the Ogori-mangogo people who also have partly Ebira ancenstries, though they bear Yoruba names and speak Yoruba language 2 Likes |
