Two threads made FP on Angel and erica buying rangerover cars and the barrage of insults on the brands really was a turn off especially from majority whom have not had the oppurtunity to drive one or own one.

I was oppurtuned to drive one, not the type they allegedly bought, and I can't tell you the experience, you just need to feel it yourself to conclude better.

The rangerover is a trouble free car. Most Nigerians at the mention of rangerover and all comes to mind is problem problem problem.. the car is not as complicated as people think..

People complain of expensive parts, obviously with the inflation in the country, cost of goods are generally high. You dont expect the cost of a very high led headlight with sensors and adjustable focus on blind spots to be same price with a corolla headlight..

Balloon shocks:... these are the best kind of shocks ever, most modern cars are beginning to work with them as you see (comfort, sport ,low rider) option button in vehicles these days. They are shocks that can last you over 4years without change if managed properly and if there is a leak, its cost just 20k(04 - 013) for a used one, which you really dont have to debate on because as long as there is no leak, it's good to go. If you go balloon, you can hardly go back to gas shocks. The difference is clear, which is why a 5 years old rangerover still drives without a single leg noise, while you cant say same for gas shocks despite being changed multiple times in one year.

Callibration: sometimes we see the car bent to one side and everyone assumes its problematic.. it's as a result of a leaking balloon of 20k or failed air pump. The air pump rarely give issues and its plug and play with replacement parts available at less than 100k (04 - 013) while callibration is just 5k to get the car leveled up again.

Engine and gear : naturally V8 engines are less problematic although less fuel efficient compared to V6 and 4plug, but the class, the comfort and luxury you get obviously covers the difference. Eg, Erica and Angel bought a rangerover and it made news, one would be less bothered if it was a Toyota or Honda. With the regular oil checks and the right fluids, the tranny and engine of the car can comfortable get to 10years without the lid off. Atleast mine got to 5years without opening the engine lid for any reason before sale.

Asides the issues tackled above, other parts are no different from the regular cars and trucks on the road.

Luxury and class: The rangerover comes with a class of it's own, it command respect both offroad and city. The material used on the vehicle are top notch, except the cracked dash of the 2004 to 2009 rangerover sport.
Its adjustable suspension heights elevates the car above floods and rubbles while the balloon still gives it extreme comfort while going through rough patches.

With a rangerover in Nigeria, you can afford to come late to an event and people would makes excuses for you.

So pocahontas, you dont need to ridicule one just because you can, you need to experience the drive quality, the feel, the handling, the maneuvering, the reason its stands above others.

The only cars on its level are the BMW and Mercedes, which we can testify are a class of their own.

shocked

The problem is the caliber of people that buy the car( awon I own range, Benz, BMW crew) not really d car itself. U see, all these luxury cars can last a very long time if well maintained. But a good maintenance means shelling out money & giving the car to a professional with the right tools. But not only do they buy second hand, they also prefer to fill d radiator of such expensive rides with water, ignore warning signs on dashboard & not change oil on time. So the car becomes a nightmare to them. which they then take to a kazeem, who destroys it some more
