BMW and Mercedes benz buy engines from other companies...like FORCE MOTORS..


Innoson used to buy engines from Japanese company Nissan.. But now they make the engines specifically for innoson.. They are in the process of setting up engine manufacturing plant in Nigeria... Second picture is Innoson head of media announcing..

You appear to miss the point here. The point is that engines, chassis and axles are not made in Nigeria because she lacks a virile steel and machine tools sector.Until engines and chassis are made in NIGERIA is when you can say vehicles are MADE in NIGERIA. Presently INNOSON is a motor Assembly plant and not manufacturing them. Those companies and vehicle brands you talk about have their engines made in the environment where their vehicles are manufactured largely to save costs and make their products competitive in a TATA environment. It is manufacturing and not assembling that reflects in GDP. It is about balance of trade. That is the point.

There is not one part of the cars that Innoson manufactured himself, not even the tyres or the number plates.

We need to start manufacturing cars. We have been assembling cars since the 70s. Nothing new!!!
