All I can say in all your doings don't make anything your god except the Almighty God.

When people don't keep the Word of God, they have to be careful about everything else they did, like, the clothing material they put on, kind of toothpaste they brush their teeth with, kind of mattress they sleep on and position they sleep on it, the kind of hair style they make, kind of cream they rub on their body, kind of soap they use to bath etc. Their lives would be insecure and filled with fear.

But for those who keep the Word of God, they can use any kind of clothing material, any kind of toothpaste to brush, rub any kind of cream, sleep on any kind of mattress in any possible position, make any kind of hair, use any kind of soap to bath, etc., but nothing shall by any means be able to hurt them, because Jesus, the Word of God, got them covered.

So instead of having to be careful about everything else you do, I would advice you be careful about keeping the Word of God, because then you wouldn't have to be careful about everything else you do.

If you ever read the above in your Bible, you will ever be careful of what you wear. A child of God is lead by the Spirit of God and not the flesh THEREFORE YOU CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ANYHOW

If you truly read your Bible and it's the Spirit and not the flesh that interprets or reveals what the Word of God says to you, you'd understand that Jesus is the Word of God, and this is what Jesus says:

Luke 10:19 (KJV)

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Mark 16:18 (KJV)

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

So if you kept the Word of God, you won't have be careful and mindful of everything, such as, the material of cloths you put on, but the keeping the Word of God, because even if they emanated from Satan directly, the Word of God says, they shall not by any means be able to hurt you, because He has given you power over all the powers of the enemy.

Moreover the "strange apparel" in the verse you quoted was an illustration, not a literal term. You must have heard about being "clothed with righteousness". "Righteousness" is not a material you can purchase in the market to make the cloths you wear, but what you put on when you keep the Word of God, because God doesn't look on the outward appearance as men do but on the heart. So that's what that verse was speaking about, the appearance of one's heart before God!

By the way, i'm not a follower of the Bible but that of Jesus the Word of God.
