Gunmen and the military are said to have in a heavy shootout at Mgbidi and Akata in Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State.

A source from the area told our correspondent that the incident began as early as 6 am today when the hoodlums allegedly enforcing the partial lockdown order of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) barricaded the roads, ordering people to go back to their houses.

Breaking News, Nigerians can now work in Nigeria and get paid in US Dollars Click here to apply today .

However, the source said they were later confronted by the military who responded swiftly to counter their order.

As at the time of this report, it is not clear if there was any casualty on both sides.

Recalled that IPOB yesterday urged people in the South East to pray fervently for peace in the zone, unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, and restoration of a Biafra nation.

Although a statement by the spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful did not order a sit-at-home but urged the people to lockup their shops temporarily during the duration of the prayers and open shortly after.

Forcing people to stay at home and pray for Nnamdi Kanu is madness, who is he by the way?
His supporters can go on a years long fasting and prayers for his release but shouldn't impose it on the general public.

..

All our problems are Self inflicted.

Igbos do not want to be part of Nigeria.. The solution dey simple organize a referendum and if the majority vote for it you allow them go. But trust the black man to always choose the hard way out. blood must be spilled. Same thing is happening in Cameroon, Ethiopia and many other countries in Africa. Our ways are just different. Everything about us is just different.

This gun battle is not needed in South East.
Shun tribalism .
Send these soldiers to North East to save Nigerians being massacred in numbers daily there.

Hoodlums have finally hijack the struggle.
IPOB got no methodology hence this madness all over the place.
IPOB should get their priorities right otherwise they are fvcked

Na waa oo. IPOB's biggest mistake was thinking they can dictate to the Igbo man when to come out and when to stay inside. The Igbo man loves his Freedom more than anything. The moment IPOB started infringing on their freedom to choose when to do their business, they lost the people's support. Nnamdi Kanu was smart enough not to dictate to people what to do. He somehow managed to convince people to follow him. The people in charge of IPOB now are doing the exact opposite. People are only obeying the sit at home out of fear.

Wow sad

I’d still say it, the only people enjoying this south east sit at home are the federal and state government workers/civil service employees.

Do you think it’s easy to have Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays as weekends in this day and age?

Their Northern, western and southern counterparts would be steaming with envy this season grin

Left for igbo salaried workers Nnamdi Kanu can rot in dss dungeon for as long as buhari likes
