FORGET ABOUT BUILDING SKY SCRAPPERS. Build the people of the state and you build a country. Ebonyi is an agrarian state that should be focus on Agriculture especially rice production. Not building so called tall rising building for politicians to loot and go to Dubai to enjoy themselves. 3 Likes |

The pathetic and sad part is that most of these governors and leaders travel abroad all the time... They see level of infrastructural development over there, even in neighboring African nations, but they still return and pocket huge chunks of their state budgetary allocations, doing nothing meaningful. You are not far from the truth. Umuahia is my hometown and it still feels the same from the 90's. There is no tangible infrastructures and development except beer parlours, petrol stations and hotels owned by private individuals. There is no government presence in the state if at all we have one. Let's not forget that Umuahia is the capital of waste dump on streets. In short, Abia State as a whole is disgrace to the eastern region. Abakaliki,capital of Ebonyi State has overtaken Umuahia capital in terms of Infrastructure. Enugu and Anambra States at least provide good governance to their people. Igbos are not urbanised people by nature, they love isolated settlements based on clanish foundations, I have toured most south eastern states, Asides the capital, most times other places are like refugee camp, building beautiful edifice is not development. When I went to Awgu to visit a friend in 2013, no f^^cking ATM point, I had to go to Enugu for basic banking transactions, IMO state is worse, After Owerri, the other towns are like abandoned Somalian hamlets. That is why when your people come the south west , they experience a real urbanised settings for the first time, they drop their "Ghana must go" bag and thank Chukwu okike abiama for the great privilege, some would even mal handle those statues in our roundabouts to snap pictures. 9 Likes |
