Money did not dlow in for them oo. They did not make enough and were at the mercy of marketers who paid them from the proceeds of sale of video cassettes and later on CD's. The lucky educated ones among them used their fame to get political offices or marry wealthy guys.

Now the entertainment industry is saturated with different types of content from thousands of providers. Competition is extremely tough and no one needs marketers to sell nada.

Its tough for them, since most dont have any other in demand valuable skills that can earn them a decent living.

This is also very common among aspiring proffessional footballers who spend most of their teenage years and twenties training morming and evening every day.

They laid the foundation, they made the sacrifice. Nollywood is built on their sweat and blood.
They are the reason Nollywood is the most developed in Africa.
Unfortunately, like most pioneers, they didn't ripe the fruit of their labour's.

You spoke the whole truth. Fadeyi Oloro, Olowo Aiye, Abija Wara Bi Ẹkun, Àgbákò, Baba S'ala, Aluwe and Orisabunmi in the 80s through 90s were the ones who made our childhoods memorable. In those days, they were only popular but not rich. They made the necessary sacrifices from the days of white and black TVs. They positioned Nollywood for the glamour it has today. Those days there were not even much Investment opportunities as we have today. Their plight today is understandable since they earned only peanuts then. The Nollywood stars of today owe them a lot. They must rally round and support these veterans who laid the foundation for the glamour which they now enjoy.
