Another Norris expedition on the Niger. He took two missionary linguists from the staff of the CMS (Church Missionary Society) in Freetown, J. F. Schon and Samuel Ajayi Crowther (the latter a Yoruba-born ex-slave and teacher), along with twelve interpreters, including Igbo who came from emancipated slave families settled in Freetown. John Christopher Taylor and Simon Jonas were among these. No permanent mission was founded. Schon was interested in Igbo and Hausa. At a stopover in Aboh, he tried to communicate in Igbo but was disappointed that people did not understand him. He then abandoned Igbo study for some twenty years

From your previous post as shown above, I should not given them credit in the same manner many people such as you failed to give them credit because they were of Igbo ancestral parentage.

Give it up; alj harem has just schooled you.

They were Igbo yet they couldn't speak but you want to give them credit for Crowther's book. It doesn't matter what you think, Crowther is credited with writing the first Igbo book and the primer for the Igbo language.

alj_harem:

credit is sure given to them but they can not take as much credit as ajayi because they gave up while ajayi contiuned

i am sure u understand that

Well done

When did J. F. Schon become John Christopher Taylor and Simon Jonas? I thought you had better comprehensible ability than alj harem. I guess it is time to give up on you. It is shame you categorized alj harem of all fallible person as a quotable source.

Isn't that your post?

The man was with John Christopher Taylor and Simon Jonas. He stopped at Aboh but he couldn't communicate in Igbo. Had his translators gone on break or holiday?

Please quit being lazy and a disciple of alj harem who is a known novice. What you referred as my post was partly the treacherous means your newly found prophet alj harem used to distort facts.

I suggest you make time to visit the “Foundation of Igbo Studies” by Louis Nnmadi Oraka and get enlightened by his juxtapositions.  There is no doubt wallowing in oxymora injected into this forum by alj harem will further set you back.

This thread is filled with lies from the pit of hell. Why don't we just stick with the popular firsts eg First Nigerian president, Senator, Pilot, Driver, Millionaire, Professor etc.
