The Ijaw Youth Development Association (IYDA) has set a four-cardinal agenda in the area of electricity, education, economic, and infrastructural development, radical implementation of the Niger Delta Master Plan and Technical Committee Report, for President Goodluck Jonathan in the next four years.

In a congratulatory statement signed by its National President, Mr. Amassoma Daniel, the group described Jonathan’s victory in the April presidential lection and his successful swearing-in on May 29 as divinely orchestrated for him to transform Nigeria and bring the economy out of the woods.“The entire members of IYDA are tremendously excited and enthusiastic about the victory of Goodluck Jonathan, the first elected president with a doctorate degree.

“The victory is like a dream come true and an historic event that is relatively inexplicable, and as a result, we see it as a thing of joy that a Niger Delta son from the minority ethnic Ijaw could rally round Nigerians and motivate them to unanimously cast their votes for him to lead this great nation.“We have never doubted his ability to effectively and efficiently put Nigeria back on track as a nation to reckon with locally and internationally and we will never doubt,” the statement read.

While reminding the president that the masses expect him to embark on massive and meaningful developmental projects that would distinguish him from previous leaders, the group also urged him to remove from his executive council any member whose performance does not measure to the standard.
