Hahaha.... incidentally, don't be surprised if he was born, raised and educated in the SW.

I had a few lecturers then who are from the SE and finished from Ife and they're very good. In fact, one is a female and holds the record for being first Igbo female Professor in that whole industry. Though she would have retired from the academia now but I remember she had a first-class from Ife too.

OAU ,UNILAG and UI have a lot of our brothers and sisters from SE. I am not sure if SE universities have such diversity in their studentship and academia. You are right that most Yoruba don't usually go out of SW to study, this is because the top universities are in the SW. In fact if you are Yoruba and study outside SW, it immediately suggests that you are probably weak academically.

You're right, it makes no academic sense for a Yoruba person born and bred in the SW to study outside the region when the vast majority of Nigeria's best universities (public and private) are located in the region. It's like expecting lots Americans to apply to German or Japanese universities when majority of the world's best are in the US.

Congratulations to the lad! He should apply for a direct PhD program in the US.

This is a proof of Yoruba generosity and accomodating nature.. they are everywhere in South West Universities both public and private studying in peace but still go about hating on Yoruba people.

I don't think a Yoruba can emerge overall best in a department or faculty in schools like UNN, UNIZIK etc in South East talkless of overall best in the school, they will look for something or silly excuse to drop such person.

You this Fulani supremacist is suddenly a Yoruba man? grin

Regarding the non-possibility of a Yoruba person being the BGS in a school in the East, do note that unlike Igbos, Yorubas aren't migratory especially within Nigeria. The Igbo culture encourages people to migrate to wherever the money can be made, it's a pragmatic not dogmatic culture. At the same time, the SW is Nigeria's most prosperous region, so it's not unsurprising that there are more Igbos in the SW than Yorubas in the SE. Additionally, the best universities in Nigeria are in the SWest, so it makes no sense for a Yoruba person born and bred in the SW to apply to universities outside the region. It's akin to an American born and bred in the State of Massachusetts to apply to Tokyo Tech or Imperial College when MIT, Boston University and Harvard exist within walking distance. Finally, due to the above factors especially on statistics, it's possible to have more Igbos graduating as BGSs from universities in the SW than Yorubas from universities in the SE. It's a game of numbers.

Diversity in the SW and Northern Universities is far more than what obtains in the SE. That's a fact.

Again, hold on. Isn't Aregbe the governor of Osun?
I think he went to IbadanPoly ooo.
The current Executive Governor of Osun state is HE Gboyega Oyetola.
Here's his Wikipedia page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gboyega_Oyetola

His first and second degrees were obtained at the University of Lagos (UNILAG)

U don't make assumptions bro without instances for clarity purpose.

In what ways were you discriminated??

One of you admitted that ur people hardly travel so how can you be offered job opportunity without ur presence??

We have Yoruba line in Main Market Onitsha. We have many of kinsmen schooling in those Federal Universities I mentioned in Igboland.

One thing I know that tribalism and discrimination is not a thing of SouthEast.

5 Yorubas are lecturing at the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy in UNIZIK. Dr Akosile just finished his tenure as HOD of the department.

In Awka and Nsukka main campus of NAU and UNN, many Yorubas are lecturing there and most of them are married to Igbo wives

Blame ur people of not exploring other region in Nigeria.

Even in the North, Igbos still top other non Northerners there. I served in North so I know exactly what I'm saying.

SouthEast is a commercial region. The number of Universities in Yorubaland is times 3 that of SE especially private.

I think Yorubas prefer staying back to school in SouthWest because of personal conviction but the few ones that apply in SouthEast are easily absorbed without glitches.

Make enquiries about my assertion. I don't believe in hear-say or narrative assumption while expressing a view. U just assumed that there's tribalism in Igboland without reality check agreeing with you.

Igbos are least tribalistic in Nigeria.

Bros wait! You are not at the receiving end, perhaps u don't even stay in Igbo land. So u may not take cognizance of it.

But i did my prescience at Mbaukwu(Unizik) you know I was made to pay more for rent because I'm Yoruba.
I have to sometimes force myself(doing more) to be accepted as one of them(as student ooo) you see people speaking pidgin n Cox u r in their midst they switch to Igbo.

Only igboa that grew up outside igbo land will give u a sense of belonging. They r the one that role with u.

We Yorubas in that set were about 8. They were fringe out except two, and this guys were good. They purposely made their entrance exam theory. you go to market, they sense you are not igbo, your price will definitely be different.

I once work as a computer operator for one igbo man then( the only igbo man that showered me with love, guess what he was born n raise in Lagos) when I got admission nko, wahala. You can't compare it to the leverage igbos enjoy in another region esp Yoruba land, they head depts, faculties, state govt parastatals, private sector.

In my Secondary school days(Ekiti), I could remember how I was punished immensely n insulted by friends for trying to cheat a new igbo pupil coz he doesn't understand Yoruba. How we preferred to do business with them, give them chieftaincy titles, one igbo business man once gave an order for our student union head be slapped by his attendant. See that level of comfort.

But when I went there that was my first time of experiencing discrimination Cox of tribe even though I've already spent some substantial year's in Jos( they r the sweet people)before then

Do you think Canadian/ North American schools pay their best graduating student anything( You are really dumb) Nigeria is one of the few countries that still give prizes to their bgs

Studying STEM courses in OAU is ridiculously difficult, not to talk of graduating with distinction in it; and all he was given was just a paltry sum of 100k? SMH for the Nigerian educational system.
